lol, actually if we have millions of members we can afford to get a larger site. But i'm not really after that, the intention of this place is to have a home for the Raven Guard.

I know there are more of us out there :)

Right, so basically everyone in the first 100 will be in the first company? If so, woo! I'm in the first company!

It's a good start - especially considering how new the site is.

agreed...So if you guys find anything interesting on the web, post it up.

If you have any ideas for playing/painting/modelling/etc...post it up.

Also, what would be really great is to have more articles, be it stories, tacticas or hobby guides, everything is appreciated :D

Hey all, I wandered into this topic and saw you all commenting how quiet us new people are. Figured I would drop a hello to you so I don't seem so reserved ^_^;

I have been playing 40k for about 4 months, I got into watching a couple D&D friends of mine playing it one day. They were looking to expand their play group and I said I wouldn't mind learning. I had no idea what I was doing so I went into a local hobby store and checked out some of the codexes since that was a good place to start. I was advised to skip the rule book since the 5th Ed one was being released a few weeks later. The hobby store had 6 different codexes but the guy told me he could order more if I wanted one he didn't have.

I didn't know anything about the game so I told him I would just take the codex I thought looked the coolest by name and art. I chose Dark Angels. I read the book and talked to my friends, for almost a month I was under the impression that the Dark Angels were the only Space Marines there were. I got frustrated due to no rule book or knowledge of the game, but I tried a proxy list (using D&D minis) for a few games before giving up. I started actually browsing the internet and getting more info on the game. I went to ebay looking for armys and I saw a really good deal on a Witch Hunters army. My friend said they were chicks with guns and I was hooked. I bought about 3500 points worth of Battle Sisters for 400 bucks. The new rulebook was released about the same time I got my army in the mail. I have been playing them now for 3 months and getting quite good with them. But I browsed through the old Dark Angels codex again wondering about what could have been. I just recently found out there were more marine forces than just the Dark Angels out there when I was told of a new Space Marines codex.

I decided to browse the internet and looked up Space Marines and their chapters and stumbled on the wiki site that showed them all. I read through the different chapters and asked my friends about the different codexes. This is when I found out there are only a handful of chapters that had their own codex and that most the chapters used the generalized Space Marine codex. I now had a renewed vigor to try Space Marines again since there seemed to be a lot more options and not nearly as many marine players in my area (about 20 or so 40k players at the local game store, most play Tau, Daemons, Nids, Orks, Eldar, D.Eldar, and Imperial Guard, one plays Blood Angels which I thought was just a successor to Dark Angels for the longest time).

I returned to the Wiki site and looked up all the chapters again, this time with the focus of actually picking something I could see myself playing. I found out the tactics for each chapter were different from other chapters and this made me even more ambitious of finding a chapter I liked. In D&D I always play rogue characters and so I used this as my search help. I decided on 3 chapters and brought them to my friends to see what they could see me playing as well. The three chapters were Blood Angels, Salamanders, and Raven Guard. They asked "Why Salamanders?" to which I responded, "They are like the Sisters I already play so I could have a jump on the tactics."

We eliminated Salamanders because of the reason I gave. If I wanted to play flamey love, I should just use my Sisters. We then eliminated the Blood Angels because there is already a player in the game area that plays them and I should try to be different so that people have to adopt new tactics when playing against me, plus it is nice to have a different army that players ask about or don't have as well.

Raven Guard seemed to be the perfect fit in all ways. It is sneaky/stealthy, it strikes quick and decisively, and targets weak points in their opponents. Of the three I had picked, it was the one I was most leaning on to start.

Now I am here on this site. I have decided to wait for the new codex to be released, but the wait is almost killing me. I really can't wait to start a new army under the Raven Guard banner.

Anyways, I am glad I made the choice. The more I ask about them, the more comfortable with my choice I feel. I am glad to be a part of the community, and though you probably won't hear much from me (until the new SM codex is released), I am constantly lurking here, reading tactics, fluff, and army builds. Thanks for having me as a part of your small family, and I hope to make you all proud of my army and battles to come.
