This sort of goes here.

The Strike Cruiser "Eye of the Hawk" fired its auxilary thrusters and moved elegantly round in the orbit of Laconia.
Inside the bridge, the silence was as sharp as a knife.
"Damn heretics!", the ship's current commander lashed out at one of the many servitors surrounding him. The name of this commander was Harloc Avianus. His fleet had been plagued for months by the Word Bearers, conducting hit and run attacks on his fleet. The scanners in the bridge were going haywire. His prenaturally sharp mind had registered that this would be the perfect oppurtunity for another raid. It was then that they appeared.

On the edge of the system, the warp spawn appeared.
"Engage main thrusters, power up main reactors A through D, and raise the shields. The intructions where carried out wordlessly and with the decade long precision Harloc had begun to expect from his crew. He moved into range of the dorsal lance batteries on his ship and fired off a barrage at the lead enemy ship. The lances penetrated the ship causing explosive ruptures along its bow.

Just as he prepared to deliver the final blow, something appeared behind the chaos ships. It was the "Silent Night" and with it the 8th Commander, Feros.
Harloc had one thing to say.
"Send for Helic. Call the brotherhood of White Ravens."

Hey guys love the fluff you 2 are working on, you seem to make an awesome pairing :P so much so, that im actually wondering if it would be worth making a Chronicle of Hexperax, for you guys to work on your fluff, and so others can add there own version and ideas to what takes place and so they can take part even if they dont want to join in by playing battles. We'll possibly make an electronic welcome pack, full of fluff about the planets, so people can read it and then let their imagination run wild.

I'll leave the last words up to you two though? would you like this or do you guys want to develope this on your own?

Thanks guys

I like your idea Evolved, we have some great fluff writers around here! So go for it!

I thought it would be fun to tie in all our games instead of just list results. I miss the days when white dwarf used to add fluff to their reports!

The Word Bearers link is amusing, it's based on the manager of my old GW who promised a game many times with his traitors. Yet every time something cropped up. So I figured he was avoiding me ;) and was upto no good!

Talonclaw has done a great job following on from my fluff, the Laconia chronicles is truly underway. (i'm working on getting games Talonclaw, i will get there!!) :)

I look forward to other contributions concerning all you guys, Hexperax is full of opportunity.

+Note, this is a battle for a section of Akrinia. I have put it here as it was undertaken by my company whihc is mainly based on Laconia.+

The first battle was a horrible defeat, I lost both my objectives and I was playing against a Soul Drinkers army

-Shrike was brought down in the third turn by a vindicator blast.
-The Venerable Dread survived the game with both arms blown off, immobilised and couldn't move or shoot next turn.
-On the brighter side, my commander charged in with a relic blade and killed all five of a vanguard squad before they could attack back... and killed a whole squad of sternguard with his orbital blast thing!
-I lost my objective finally, when Corvaan (Telion) was brought down by a vindicare, I'll post more in a minute. My girlfriend just hit me over the head with an ironing board and I have a headache...*groan*

Tough break guys. In the hands of the medics to patch you up and come out of your corners fighting again.

Back to Laconia Talonclaw where the dice will favour you better maybe...

I should get a game before the end of the month, its taking a long time but at least i've almost got 2k of 8th company painted (including my vindicator which I just can't wait to use)

By the way Earthen be sure to post your Akrina battles in the Akrina section you set up, that way it's easier to follow, and easier for Evolved and jasp to keep track of your tally :)

Wait! I'm not done! I won the other game, and held my own objective and contested his. (Points for trying, lol?) There is one thing that stood out for me. Shrike was forced to make 13 armour saves. He passed everysingle one. No fails.

“You are certain of this?”

“Of course”

Captain Levitas paced over to the vast observation port and gazed at the stars lazily passing by. In full armor the Raven Guard cut a huge silhouette as he rubbed his stubbled chin thoughtfully.

“What is your council Velos?” he asked with a voice the low grumble of falling granite.

The hooded figure of Librarian Velos emerged from the darkness and nodded to his captain and the other asartes in red robes.

“The insane ramblings of a heretic it may be...” Velos voiced in his quiet but powerful tone.

The astartes in deep crimson rose to his feet. Calculating, battle hardened deep amber eyes showed no sign of emotion, piercing out from his tanned and scarred face. His black hair scrapped back to a topknot and clasped with an ornate golden claw. A medi skull bleeped and withdrew several tubes before slowly hovering into the background.

“ I realize what it sounds like Captain, I have lost most of my company and have not seen my home world for over two decades while pursuing this venture” a clipped accent clearly separating him from the sons of corax.

Levitas turned sharply and his coal black eyes met with the fellow captains across the observation deck.

“ With all respect that is due Captain Fernandez, this was not your venture, you chanced upon it in the ashes of a war torn system. I am well versed in the prime purpose of your campaign to Duletious. Where it not for our intervention your misadventures would have cost you in excess of what you suffered. Consider the debt my company owed your chapter fully repaid”

The atmosphere brooded as silence chocked the chamber. Librarian Velos drew back his hood and removed an ancient parchment from his black robes. Carefully releasing the statis seal he placed it in front of the feuding captains.

“The insane ramblings of a heretic it may be… but the chart does indeed match.”

Servo arms rose from the central hub and scanned the parchment, before exploding it into a three dimensional holo pic. The blue light illuminated the curious expressions of the three marines as they reflected on the chart.

Levitas traced the markings and made calculations faster than any mere man.

“What is the significance of laconia” he stated.

“None that can be seen as obvious brother Captain, indeed it was Ansul as appose to laconia that supplied materials to Mars. A better fit for a heretic tech priest one would imagine.” The librarian gestured to the devastated planet of Ansul on the holo map.

“Yet Braakan was considered a genius according to what records we still retain, a trait that evidently opened the door to his fall. His works have been declared exterminatus, as such there is no record. He was situated on Thule pre-heresy and somehow escaped the moons mysterious destruction and several decades outrunning the inquisition. This recovered chart does confirm authenticity pre dating the imperium, but is missing several key parts to it.

Laconias vast jungles are a result of global modification, there is no knowledge of its purpose before the system was lost to the great storm”

Levitas strode back over to the observation port and watched the burn of the traitor fleets engines ahead of them. A massed fleet of the foulest kind, bearing insignia of the open book in flames and cast in a wretched deep bloody red.

Captain Fernandez followed uneasily failing to hide a grimace, his weight shifting to the stronger side.

“ How long will your ship hold it’s deception Feros, we are so close yet they do not see us” Fernandez failing to hide his curiosity and quell rumors that the Red Talons are treasure seekers.

“ The Silent Night has many tricks, what she lacks in fire power she makes up for in…other ways. We watch from the shadows until they reveal the extent of their schemes”

Levitas switched his gaze to the tattered standard hanging from the vaulted roof, bearing a double lightning bolt striking from the talons of a diving raven. Streams of battle honours and campaign records were lovingly crafted into the black material.

“Then when they show their neck they will know the full fury of the Raven Guard 8th.”

“Then we will be gone, and in our place only the blackness of night”

Talonclaw stood, while the others sat. He spoke with a precise tone, gained after the months he had spent working in conjunction with the Red Talons.
"You are aware of the implications of a gathering... sir?"
The Captain looked down, even an Astartes found in hard to look in eyes of pure white.
"Of course."
The Captain was technically higher rank than Talonclaw, but to speak so impudently to a White Raven, begged for retribution. Talonclaw dismissed it.
"Very well, we will take council on what you have told. Jaspercatius and Darkreever stood up and followed the first out of the door.

"First", started Darkreever. "I cannot overrule your judgement, but I am here to council you. As you are aware, a gathering of the White Ravens has not taken place in centuries."
Jaspercatius interdicted. "Your point?"
"You know full well my point! We need to have sufficient reason to gather! Not merely on the whims of a Captain who has not seen action for decades."
Talonclaw spoke in his characteristic, clipped voice. "The fact that I am answering his summons should be reason enough to trust me."
The others fell silent.
"Which Captain will stand as Watcher?", queried Darkreever.
"Levitas. He is the closest and the most able to keep a secret."
Jaspercatius looked started. "You believe that is nessecary?!"
Talonclaw allowed himself a small smile. "Of course. Contact the Silent Night."

** Secure message**

White Ravens, you now have the personal account of Captain Fernadez of the Red Talons 2nd Companyconcerning the events on Dueltious. Verified as authentic by Captain Levitas and Epsitolary Velos. That should be enough to direct your actions. The Word Bearers are but one of many foes to face. Beware.

The traitor fleet has fragmented and dispersed within the system to the other planets. 10% is still heading for Laconia. The 8th will follow. The compostion and identity of the traitor fleet heading there is unknown.

The Silent Night remains cloaked by her stealth fields and has not engaged an enemy that is not aware of our presence.

Proceed as you see fit. The 8th will act upon it's own resources as the theatre of battle dictates under the overall command of Captain Levitas.

Ship Master Icarus - Strike Cruiser Silent Night
