Bring your heroes here and tales of their heroics. Be honest and true and earn the respect of your brother Ravens.

Codicer Librarian Velos:
Surviving 108 massed Necron shots over two turns, followed by taking out nine necrons single handed in combat. Alas the 109th shot was one too many..
Lesson from the field: It's not called power armour for nothing :)

Sniper Scout Sgt Corvus Cornix "The Hooded Crow":

Went mano-e-mano with a Daemon Prince and won, then later survived attack by Chaos Lord and Raptors.

Commander Helic Talonclaw: Came face to face with Angron, was left with one wound and then inflicted a mighty THREE wounds on his own... not bad...

This is the story of Viorlax, a tech marine, i wrote this shortly after an apocalypse match, with a couple of guys at my local GW, it was an epic match game 10000pts each side, and has got to be one of the best battles i've had. Even if it did last 7 and a half hours, and an agonising 8 turns :) (ps. imperium won at the end of the day)

Techmarine Viorax 472nd son of mars.

The landscape was harsh; nothing grew except the hardiest of all greenery amidst the heat of the desert suns. The sand skipped across itself and danced callously on the wind. The engine of the terminus roared into life as it took up its position on the desolate hill. Viorax stood tall beside it, his servo harness glistening in the sun. He could see below the orks were coming...

The terminus fired its second salvo and the battlewagon shuddered to a halt. The tracks were loose and the ork behemoth would travel no more. The grots feverishly tried to make their vehicle move as the lone zzap gunner aimed for the terminus for revenge. The shot punched through the front armour, but luckily only stunned the driver. Viorlax got to work hastily, as a big shoota round smashed into his side. How could he be so foolish, to leave himself unguarded and unprepared. The machine spirit hoisted the terminus back to life; it would destroy more orks before this day was through. The raider pushed forward, the raven Guard had lost the initiative only their steely determination held them together in the fierce fighting that spread through the desert, somehow the masters plans had failed, coordinates lost and assault teams failing to strike at the heart of the ork menace with the precision he had hoped for. Viorlax ran to keep up; his servo harness weighing him down as each footstep sank deeper into the soft sand. The terminus fired again, ripping apart the ork reinforcements on their crude bikes. Only viorlax noticed, the warboss in his trukk advancing on their position. He saw the power klaw glistening in the sun and the tank busta bombs the nobs carried. He placed his hand onto the terminus, the metal cold even in the scorching heat, he prayed that he'd defend the machine spirit with his life...

The trukk ground to a halt and out leapt the boyz, their footing upset by the shifting sands beneath them. As they regained their footing, they were met with only flame, and plasma, as viorlax fought like a man possessed. Killing 4 nobs in a sea of promethium he turned his attention to the warboss. He swung his power axe with all his might smashing into the orks jaw, and then his servo harness smashed out at the foolish ork. The ork off balance from the first attack stood dazed as the metal claw used to pick up thick sheets of ceramite crashed into his face. His power klaw failing to connect with the red armoured devil. The nobs dazed into submission fled from his wrath, 'how cud one hummie do dat' they screamed as they ran hopelessly into the sea of sand...

An explosion behind him reawakened the servant of mars within him, he had fought hard and gave no quarter, but still the machine spirit cried out in pain. he dashed back across the sand toward the terminus, glancing towards the dust bowl of combat at the bottom of the hill, the white armour of Corvus Mahier glistening as he called for his brothers to stand with him. Then he was lost from sight, was he dead Viorlax didn’t know, but he had more pressing matters. the crew of the terminus opened the roof hatch, gasping for air as the power generators had exploded, one had a burn all across the side of his face, Viorlax heard a faint mumble from one of the crew, 'left power terminal, lower quadrant' Viorlax got straight to work, ripping off the protective armour exactly where the damage had occurred. He worked hastily trying to get the behemoth working again, a blast from the melee told him instinctively the battlewagon was no more; reinforcements from the last assault squad had finally put an end to its dominancy. Viorlax struggled fro breath, ripping off his helmet in a vain attempt to relieve him from the stifling heat, the sweat dripped carelessly down his face as he desperately worked. he had offered so many prayers to this behemoth, gave it so many blessing why was the machine spirit against him...

Finally the engine purred to life, a splutter of fumes hit the sky and then the noise died, the battle was near the end, he had only but a moment, the engine started again, the smoke bellowed from the exhaust, and then the hope died as soon as it appeared. He slammed his fist into the metal, the engine coughed back into life. He breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from his hardened brow. He nodded to the crew who hastily powered up the generator. Viorlax knew he had done all he could, in the final minutes of the battle, he had the machine back up and running, surely it would prove decisive. He gazed at the burning orange sun, how the sand, now an eerie red at the setting off the sun and how it reminded him of mars, long ago he worked there, too long ago perhaps. He heard a buzz in the air; the memory had taken over the machines of mars echoing in his ears. He closed his eyes letting the thought envelope him. Then hastily snapped out of the daze, another explosion behind him ripped through his augmented ears, bursting one in the process, as a screech ripped through the sky. He saw only the silhouette of a fighta bomba before his world was cast into shadow, as the burning wreck of the terminus tumbled in his direction. he felt the cool wind brush his face without the suns beaming rays scorching his flesh, the skin tingled for a moment, as he knew it was too late... he closed his eyes and thought of home.

Captain Feros Levitas 8th Company:

Two consecutive battles showing extreme destruction and shockingly lucky dice rolls.

Vs Tau: 2 hammer head tanks, 10 fire warriors all single handed

Vs Eldar: 2 squads of harlequins in combat and eldar farseer, falcon grav tank, again all on his own. ( Alas he was the last man alive after the rest of the force fell due to my terrible dice, I lost the game but he took a terrible toll on the space elves! massed shuriken fire finally felled him )

Lightning always strikes more than once..

Captain Dravern Beckett (Blood Angels) heedlessly charged into the enemy through open terrain, attracted the entire traitor guards fire, passed 17 Inv saves over 4 turns, and proceeded to take out an ogryn squad, some storm troopers and a plasma infantry squad. Alas, the brave commander was laid low by an exceptionally talented Guard Officer's chainsword...

Veteran Marine Turel (Raven Guard), survived 4 combat shield saves in close combat, survived when the rest of the command squad fell, before diving in front of the commander to heroically take a meltagun shot in the chest...

Tactical Marine Logan, armed with the squads lascannon, took down a Valkyrie, a Vendetta and a Leman Russ, despite losing his combat squad battle brothers to shell fire. (Was awarded a servo-skull and purity seals for excellence in combat).

Finally, about 6 years ago, I had a Death Company Marine who somehow lost his squad to fire, yet butchered an IG squad, The IG command squad, an Eldar starcannon team, and survived a duel with a Wraithlord (which he could not hurt or run away from) until the end of the game. (It was a 3-way battle)

On a side note, does anyone else have their own 'Hall of Heroes' at home where previous legends saved from long sold armies still lurk on dusty shelves?

My dual typhoon landspeeders

Rook the Invincible and Bishop the Unperturbed

In an engagement against eldar, tournament these boys saved my army from the jaws of defeat.

It was the last round(i went first), he controlled 2 objects while i only held one. The center objective was already in the Eldar hands. With little left on the field, Rook and Bishop launched to the objective at full-out speed.

Then it came the eldar turn.

He shot at both speeders a total of 40+ shots, including(but not limited to) 4+ ScatterLasers, 7 rangers, 8 Banshees(not only shooting their pistols but also charging), and assorted other shots at those boys.

At the end of the guy's last turn, Rook was shaken while Bishop lost his missile launchers.

That was the game that earned them their titles and from then on they have always been true to their titles, surviving volumes of fire that would make terminators soil themselves.
