Hey, was watching the news earlier and they said that Disney are poised to buy out Marvel!!
Am i the only one worried by this?? I know that the recent films weren't true to the comics, but they were getting better as time went by- i am now really concerned that Disney will ruin them!!

Ultimately, I'm not worried about the Disney considering buying Marvel, as it will keep the comics / flims alive and possibly give us a lot more feature films based on the comics due in part to the massive financial backing of the Disney brand. What I'd worry about is Disney shaping the Marvel products into a more childish and 'generic' product but I doubt the original creators of any of the Marvel products would let that happen.

By ruining the films, i did mean making them too childish, lol.
Although, isn't there a division of Marvel solely dedicated to making films now?
So there could be hope that they'll be left to do what they do, but with a larger budget!?

Depends who you'd prefer to see in a latex cat-suite, heels and whip. ;)

Is it weird that i think minnie?! I just hope they sort out spiderman. Number 3 was quite possibly the worst superhero film ever. Well along side Hulk.

Minnie could work, though she'd have to fold those massive round ears into triangles first ;)

Yea, Spidey3 sucked, and Hulk gargled my *cough* genitals. I guess Disney couldn't really make a worse job of the Spidey films. Really its the comics I'm more worried about - those (mostly) have class and quality that the mouse-punting firm could (and possibly would) shat all over from a great hight.

On a sidenote:

Is the audience of both companies the same ?

don't disney have an almost warner brothers esque rule of keeping it within the borders of child saftey?
If thats the case then say goodbye to characters like the punisher.
Also Michael Eisner and Rupert Murdock want to rule the world me thinks.

i don't know warner bros from my recollection have made some 15 rated films, (can't think of any 18+ though) pretty sure the matrix was done by them so

plus just because a company has one stand point doesn't mean they can't change, niontendo being kid friendly and then releasing GTA chinatown wars and madworld???

as someone not really into the comics, i think this would be beneficial for Marvel as the cash walt disney can put into such a "project" could rival the amount toby stark has to play with :D plus walt disney comes from decades of cinematography and so that could help in that respect. If they supply money and help then i can't see a flaw, however if they start sticking their noses in then it may turn horribly wrong

ps i'd be surprised if they did try to change the comic books, as it would make more sense to keep them as they are, keep the fans happy, and then maybe push for some of their ideas to become comics.

I really cant see a massive change in anything that marvel produces, not in a negative way at least. Hopefully disney will do the decent thing, give them some cash and then leave them to it. Or is that wishful thinking.

Jasp its Tony Stark not Toby and i wish i had his money. (and iron man suite.)

the only thing i can figure here, is that as Stan Lee is getting older, he is thinking about the security and wellbeing of the company that has been his lifes work for 60 some odd years now, and wants to protect it. So i would hope that Disney is more or less that kind old uncle... ya know, the one who pops in every now and then and give ya money but isnt there for much else.
