I do remember you! I thought your armor was cool, mark 1 thunder armor at least! It was good to talk with you, sorry I didnt give you my full attention, as WC points out we were mid transaction. Good to have you here, glad I played a part * cough see Sy, the t-shirts worked cough cough*

This is indeed a cool place, by far the best on the net to talk Raven Guard, 40k and Space marines. And if you delf into the tavern then you'll find topics on pet cats and home made lightning claws.. :)

Sorry to bump an old thread like this, but has anyone considered that there are lots of sites where you can upload images and make your own shwag? The one I'm most familiar with is cafepress.com, but I'm sure that there are more. Anyway, Levitas could upload the images to such a site, and then we would all be able to order a T-shirt from the site anytime we wanted.

Great idea, and one i have thought of, the only problem is as many know GW defends its IP like nothing else, and so small scale printing is ok, (it is after all a hobby so its bound to have some people wanting to do similar things) but having a one stop shop that sells something that is quite intrinsically close to their own copyrighted material and then in a sense, mass produce this to anyone, could have a negative effect on both the printers and the forum.

Ah, yes. Even with just Levitas' text and no logo?

Its another tricky one, as the ture copyright belongs to GW if you intend to use the phrase "Nevermore..." which is synomous with the raven guard. Saying that though, its very hard for them to claim you have breached copyright when are using a common English word (unless of course it is a made up one like slannesh for example.) so technically you can get the shirts done with nevermore.. and the forum addrees etc and it should be fine, (if Sy agrees, which i can't see why not)

Technically the intellectual copyright for all the logos belongs to the author/designer so in this case Levitas owns the copyright for his work, hence why one or two won't kick up too much of a fuss, but because of the similarities with Games workshop copyrighted material, mass producing them is a risky business even if it's possible to argue about the technicalities of it, but tbh mate its generally not worth the risk.

Fair enough. By the way, the phrase "Nevermore" is hardly GW property. I assumed everyone would know that the inclusion of "Nevermore" was (I think) a cheeky joke. It is the single most memorable phrase of Edgar Allen Poe's work, and it is from his poem "The Raven". For those of our members who may not be familiar with Mr. Poe, he was a pioneer of Horror literature and a rather famous figure in American Literature. If you've never read any of it, you should check it out.

True but in the context of it being used as a "Raven Guard" t shirt they may have a slight claim but tbh i completely agree with you, its not like they can say, 'oh, we thought of that and so its ours haha now we'll sue you' it's a word from the english language and as you say has been used time and time again in other pieces etc. in the early days of GW they did a lot of "borrowing" from mythology and literature given most of the names of units etc. strange how they now defend their IP like ravening hounds (no offense to any GW people here, i know why they do it)

so anyways you'll probably get away with it.

Well, I sold the design to a woman for some magic beans...sorry.

My design is on shutdown until I buy another mac (donations?) the files are native illustrator for the logo, and psd for the forum header etc.

The font is steel wolf - check out dafont.com

Get creative.

I got burnt financially, and had copywrite issues when I originally did this. But I know a few users outthere may have the files, as I emailed them before I sold my mac.

For the record my t-shirt has nevermore on the back. I think that speaks for itself in so many ways.
