In the official site of Games Workshop, the "Contact Us" section has a phone number that you can call for any rules clarifications. I called them a couple of minutes ago asking if there is any problem about two IC joining one squad (not joining one another to form a single unit, which is ofcourse compatible by the rules).

The answer was that there is no problem doing that.

I was told that the people on the phone are only for ordering help and they'll pretty much always answer the easiest way.

Q:"Can I do blah blah"
A:"Yes you can"

Even on the page it says "Please note: Rules questions and gaming related problems can only be answered via email. Please contact us and we will respond within 3 business days."

If you go this route I wouldn't call them and get a guy or gal who is just going to give you the easiest answer to your question.

Shoot them an email at least you stand a chance at the email going towards a developer/game designer.

Perhaps you're right about what you're saying regarding the guy on the phone. But it specifically states that rule questions and gaming related problems will only be answered over the phone. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/custo ... tactUs.jsp

I emailed GW and they said a flat no. You will find that answers will vary.

Official FAQs and the like are the best way of clarification. The game will always throw up grey areas. I'd suggest running your thoughts on the matter with your opponent, and coming up with a suitable solution.

But in this case you will find it hardpressed as most people agree you cant.

But...since this is a "UK made" game, the answer I got is the official one

Just Kidding :D

Let's hope we'll have an official FAQ on this soon.

Another thought though... If Shrike dies then the army looses the "Fleet SR" and go back to combat Tactics or do they still have it till the end of the game?

There are some real beauties in this edition and indeed the codex.

Gate of Infinity has kicked up a storm across multiple forums with its debate on taking units out of combat. There is also the one about psychic powers affecting units in a transport. Or players trying to use their opponents wargear, like homers, beacuse it didnt say other wise. Stoopid stooopid stuff.

You have to remember that the game was designed with a whole heap of flexibility and to be played with a GM. If you have never read the original Rogue Trader then do so, you'll be amused.

The core game was designed for imagination, with the rules there to form a loose framework, which was reliant on player co-operation. The 'roll a D6' comes from that original mindset.

So, as you email GW bare that in mind. The problems arise in tournaments, where a ridgid and water tight system is required, but the game simply didnt start off with that in mind many years ago.

Is there any reason why Gate couldn't take you out of combat the way I read it seemed that it could.

The others meh I think its a bit iffy, I mean I could see you using another Marine's Homers

Tech Marine "Sir I've cracked their code, and I can see their Teleportation homers on a group of scout bikes that are speeding towards our "defeneseless target (Whirlwind?))"

SM Leader: Lock and and teleport down our Terminators, lets see them out run an assault cannon.

Well, its actually a bigger debate than it seems at first. Take a flick through the link below and you'll see what I mean. You can nevr 'move' out of combat, so the questin is what does the removal of tropps from combat count as..? Take a look:

Will do ... the GW response I got from Shrike infiltrating another IC was

"No. He can join a squad and let them infiltrate, but it would not apply to an independent character who tries to join that unit"
