So, i figured that since i finally got around to taking pics of my Chapter Master, and i got them uploaded, i would "unveil" him here in this thread

Man, I thought I was getting good at the painting buisness, you guys totally put everything I do to shame, I cannot post my stuff. Its amazing to see the stuff you guys have done. Props!

right, i've been watching this threat and threatening to post on here for too long, so here goes...

LordAK - The paintwork is super brilliant. The banner is especially beautiful. The posing is stunning, though the HQ himself could do with a little more....flair. He doesnt really have a lot going off, which is proberbly the look you were going for. The backpack from the Captain box might have been better though.

(loving the pale face in the background though, very fluffy)


Earthen - My god that is a beautiful model. The wite really is crisp and clear, and the paintwork on the whole model is very well finished. Those wrists are bent in odd ways, but I can see what you did to make the weapon work, and it doesnt look bad at all mate! Nice use of the Apothecary backpack for the flamer too! What did you use for the right-hand shoulder pad and storm shield? The colors are beautiful


Lev - Just perfect as always. Well balanced, epic painting and decent mods to go with it. Still not sure about the left-hand pack intake being blocked, but i'll get over it =)

EF - Those wings... That hammer... The pose... Man... *worship*

This is 2nd Company Captain Arnrix of the Sons of Shadow (RG-successor), with a few veterans hiding behind him. The pic was taken some 6months ago, and the model has seen some minor touch-ups, highlighting, etc since, but there ya go! I'll get new pics taken once I've moved into my new house and unpacked my army.

Why the iron snake? starting a 3rd chapter?

lol, the iron snake came about because i was bored, had a "scrapped" mini, and have always heard they look good on the table, so while preparing for my 500 pt. games, i slapped some paint onto the mini in IS colors.

Fear Not! just cuz i did one iron snakes mini does NOT mean im doing a 3rd chapter... i need to finish my sallies/RG crusade force, then work on persuading the missus to let me do an IG army

One gaming group is allowing me to use that blade as a Lightning Claw because they loved the conversion.

I must say it was a stroke of brilliance on my part. and a complete pain to build.

Captain Race Bannon.

Utterly illegal in 5th edition. But back in 2nd, someone said, "Hey, that guy looks like Race Bannon!" So it stuck with me since then. I updated "the man" to be in TDA but have no picks for him ... yet.

I'm gonna be honest...

I dont like the large wings. Doesnt sit with the models at all. They look too organic, which points to a mutation. They are also just too big. I like the wing concept, but I see them as being more mechanical/gothic in nature.

The rest I genuinly like. Good stuff.

this is the personal heraldry that i painted on. It's a Raven skull, half painted black and white, with crossed black and white swords behind it. It's to represent master over covert and overt warfare.

@ Eniss - Nice work man - for having just started you are moving ahead very well. I think I'm seeing alot of nice inking - good work with that and nice hammer pose.

@CR - thanks alot! - I used a terminator shoulder pad and one from the command squad sprue. The shield is a normal termie storm shield . Cant wait to see your new pics and some of those vets too

@Firefox - Post! once you start, you'll realize its not nearly as intimidating. This isnt a skills contest - its a sharing of ideas and enjoying the game. Everyone who starts 40k - save maybe levitas - isnt good at painting. And the great thing is, its not important anyway. We'd all love to see your interpretation of a heroic SM character!

@ Sy thanks alot I'm really happy with it. I already mentioned that I really like your take of the blue tinge on your RG. I like the RG aspect of a beaky ironclad too.

@ Fhad - actually i took the blades from a chaos defiler

@ Race - i didnt even know race bannon was an old character Great job on the eyes - thats really one thing i need to work on. I love the weapon you crafted - im not sure I understand how the combi-melta is being held though, but i think thats the angle of the shot. Id love to see more

@ Captn. Hacksaw - I'm happy youre back if i missed the welcome home thread for that or not. I love the techmarine, and im a bit of a sucker for the Emp. Champ. model. Its an epic pose. The liby staff detail i like alot - and his tabard really does look bloodstained. Nice.

@Vuel - Loving the battle damage. One place that i really noticed it was the wear on the inside of the elbows - something that, now that i think about it, really gets overlooked. For me, i think the blue /yellow/red is a bit conflicting - i think it would look very impressive if you used the gold on the aquillas on top of the jump pack like you did on the bolter and crozius. Also - toss some brown ink on that crozius to really bring out the depth of the item. Although i could just be giving terrible suggestions- im not really sure there. Really loving the weathering and battle damage though. Looks like he just plowed through some orks and is on his way for seconds! Very nice basing too.

CR - Was that made from the Captain sprues? Never bought one, but i like the scabbard sticking out at the front.

Race - I love that blade.. It looks like a swordbreaker. Nice convertion.

WR Jaspercation -- your models are awesome!!.. they look saintly.
Like Lev, i think it will look much better if the wings were mechanical. Try CMON shop. They have great mechanical wings.

Sy.. no better camera? i cant see clearly.. It looks just black and white there.

Vuel.. nice chaplain. I like the battle damage you did. I see a few things that you can make better though.
i. the yellow eagles on he jumpack
Try this : scorched brown -> bestial -> snakebite -> snakebite+yellow -> yellow -> yellow+white

ii. The Crozius

Try put some wash of black inks or badab black or watered down tamiya smoke (my fav) to brings out the line.
And i believe it will look better if you paint the grip differently.

I did some a slight conversion for my brother using the same model and here it is for refference.

Well had a look at my HQ's and found two flaws in my plan, i don't have a libby in power armour, (which is a good choice) nor a chaplain in termy armour (again a good choice).
