Introduced by Talonclaw, the idea has been expanded to a community effort.

So what is Codex: Corvus about? It is a tome of knowledge, a compilation of Tactical knowledge for the benefit of Raven Guard players new and old. In fluff, the main difference btwn the RG and the Ultramarines is in our tactical application. That is why, Tactical prowess is so important. We're not just any marines, we're Raven Guard. It is our tactics that defines us.

That is why we are doing this. This is a way to unify new players and vets. Let this be our standard from which to advance.

What we want is to produce a text of as high quality as this Wood Elf Guide on Librarium Online.

As i said above, this is a community effort. So what we need are people willing to do parts of it, it will then be edited and compiled. Everything in Green has someone working on it, everything in Red has yet to have someone writing it, Cyan for completed works. When this project is done, the completed Text will be posted in the war room....Guiliman eat your heart out :)

Talonclaw and Nemesis will edit and compile this project, i'll be helping them in however i can.

Got something i've been working on for the chapter master, so if i could write that up it'll be great :D i'll let you know what i have so far, cause obviously he's a big character in any army

so far;

Raven Guard Chapter Master

Whilst other heroes of the Imperium are widely known and celebrated, little is known of the Raven Guard Chapter Master. The Master of the Shadows is the epitome of The Raven guard leaving not litanies of praise or celebration in his wake, just the cold darkness of oblivion for his foes. Of all his reclusive brothers he is the pinnacle of all that the Raven Guard can be. A Master tactician, undetected and lethal. His other worldly awareness of the battle and his grace in combat is only matched by his foes surprise as he strikes deathly from the shadows. He calls himself only the shadow of Corax, and little is known of his true identity, Though many claim that only the shadows that embrace him will ever know his true name.

Interesting idea, Jasper, but I don't know if something like that would fit in the project that they're discussing here. It's more about tactics and the likes, and I don't think a home-grown character would be suited for that, since it isn't technically legal in game terms.

Hahahaha...Perhaps the name Codex: Corvus threw off it's real intention.

This project is meant to becoming a giant Tactica: Raven Guard. While your idea does seem interesting, this thread isn't the place to discuss it.

However, how about volunteering to help write a short overview on some units? :)

Well didnt want to throw up a big thing of "this is what your chapter master should be" plus i get the feeling that most players wouldn't use a Codex chapter master, (using shrike, chaplain or captain instead) so was trying to get ideas,

I have some reservations for example a tactica against Tau could be anything from 1 - 7 billion pages from my experience, and thats from just one person, but then again i don't feel like i should write it as im sure others will be more 'qualified'.

Hmmm, you're probably. However, If possible we could keep it to a page or two.

This is meant to be a big database.

As for whether your qualified, it will be reviewed by the rest of SoC.

I'd like to help whatever i can but i think my knowledge and gaming experience is way too little for "real" help. Good luck on your job. For the emperor!

I'm willing to have a go at writing a Landspeeder Tactics and anti-Dark Eldar tactics. Can't make any promises on time - I will have to squeeze writing into spare moments between family and work.

I can use my artificer skills to put the thing together as a PDF. This will be dependant on two things though, one being free time and size (as in keep it 'snappy')

My list is hybrid in that it's half fluff and half competitive, which has competed at tournament level. It may be that a short section talking about tournie play would help too. If earthen is about he is a great one for tournie tactics and overview too.

Also Fleet and Shrike. These are worthy of their own detailed section. I may write something on this if you want Sy?

so me:
*Compile when fully done
*Shrike and Fleet tactica
* Librarian Tactica

Im not sure what units i'm gonna write for, but i have "my thoughts" on the Legion of the damned

http://sonsofcorax.freeforums.org/tacti ... html#11648

anyone wants to add stuff feel free, i mean like sy says he wants it "comprehensive" :D

Ps. i think the fluff and outline may need fleshed out a bit more. but we'll see what happens :)

Excellent! :D

We're that much closer to completion, I'll fit those two into the more detailed Unit Tacticas.

As for the unit overview, what we could have is akin to the Wood Elf guide that Nemesis linked us to in the Tactica Corvus thread.

Wood Elf Guide Use this as a guide for the overview. The detailed unit tacticas are fine as you guys are making it.

Lev: Sorry, we can't keep this snappy. The intention here is to create a comprehensive RG book. Like i said, setting a high standard from which all RG can progress :)

Well I've posted my work on Shrike and Fleet.

Sure, but no one likes a cumbersome tomb. Detailed yes, what I mean by snappy is to keep it tactical and precise. Dont waffle, in short. :)

I think it needs streamlining. A unit and it's relevant tactics should maybe be together. Sy, your article on Vanguard covers everything, why and what would an overview say that would be relevant and needed?

It should be:

This is the unit and options
This is how it plays as Raven Guard

Then go onto do over all tactics or specialized lists etc seperatley. If not then your over egging the omlette, so to speak.

I was actually working on an update of my older Tactica that pretty much encompasses these elements + some unit suggestions over the past few weeks.
I don't know when I'll get it done, but it could fit into these catagories.

I think i may try my hand at the Tau tactica atm, my brains a bit fuzzled atm, but im sure i can write something about the main types of tau armies you'll come up against, i.e Mech, gunline, transformers :P

other then that, theres a few HQ choices i'll be playtesting (master of the forge, chapter master etc) so may write up for them.
