Something I was thinking of here lately... it is stated that Corax slew all of the Weregeld at the Raven's Spire, however, it is known that the Weregeld were used in combat operations prior to that. Therefore, what is a chance that some of the Weregeld could have survived or even managed to escape on their own during the chaos of combat? And what is a chance that some of those might not have been entirely imbecilic creatures... and perhaps had a sort of malevolent intelligence that was easily corrupted by Chaos?

Moreover, what is the chance that some of these Weregeld survived all the way into M41, forever waiting for revenge on their erstwhile brothers?

If it sounds like a concept for a story, this is because it just might be... whenever I get any time to write, that is. What do you think of this?

And maybe that is why Corax left the chapter and set sail for the eye of terror.

how are they described? I mean like features and such. I have heard the story but only that they were monster like creatures.

Horribly misshapen, drooling insane beasts herded into battle by normal marines.

I think the weregeld shared the fate of deathcompany BA and most wulfen, they die in battle.

Corax has known how many he "created", so impossible to miss some.

An example of unsuccessful attempts at creating marines are the Iron Warriors actions in those IW/UM books. Turns out, most creatures arent usable, just mutants and funnily also loyal to the emperor.

There is a "RG" marine ( whos name shall not be typed in here ) fallen to choas and i may imagine it was
a mistake of the author. At least it should.

Still, cant see left over weregeld in m42.

I was thinking perhaps one Weregeld that actually maintained full intelligence and was further enhanced by Chaos to be written as the main antagonist of the story. The protagonist would be a Raven Guard Astartes (ideally a Librarian, but it may not be particularly fitting the Chapter fluff) who has to confront the Chapter's dark past. For the purposes of this hypothetical story, all I will really need is one Chaos Weregeld to make it to M42 - from there, I think an actual story could be written. Not to mention a few other things I would like to put in it related to the mindset of the Raven Guard - at least as I understand it. :)

Do you think this can be reasonably plausible as the basis for a story, or am I stretching the suspension of disbelief a little too far?

If you're writing it, you can take a couple different tacks. Yes, the idea of a survivor makes for a story, and isn't terribly out of line with what little fluff we have. However, you could also say that Corax knew there was a surviving weregeld that escaped/was lost to the warp at some point, and from there postulate that the reason he left was to track down the last remaining weregeld and finally right the wrong he had done.

i could take this idea abit further, and have it be that there was a brilliant and lucid Weregeld out there, who was able to lead a small band of other 'gelds, Corax at somepoint (before deciding to off all of the weregeld) sends this band into the warp to find something/someone, and later needs to "fix" his problem and chase them down

this could turn into a good story. My only advice is try not to strech whaats written already too far.
