When I use Shrike, a favourite trick of mine is to attach him to a ten man Assault Squad with plasma pistol, flamer and a Sgt with Powerfist + Storm Shield (I had limited componants at the time, plus he looks bad METAMORPHIC KOALA! ).

I keep Shrike and the Assault in Reserve, and I use Shrikes Infiltrate rule to make an outflanking move (under the 5th Ed. rules), coming on from one of the sides (on a dice roll etc), flaming and plasma pistoling a Squad then jumping them (or using Shrike's fleet rule to ensure they get into combat).

I once rolled up the entire right flank of an Imperial Guard player (who was using a pure infantry force) - in two turns Shrike and his Squad chewed through 30 or so regular guardsmen with attached lascannons and a ten man veteran squad loaded with sniper rifles (the vets were up in a large Ruin). And that was payback for him chewing through a Tactical Squad and a Scout Sniper Squad with Telion in CQB with some tooled up Penal Troopers (with the "knifefighting ability I think); and shooting up my expensive Devestator Squad (2 Plasma cannons and 2 Heavy Bolters) using Veterans with Plasma Guns (who hid in some trees where I couldn't hit back).
