The latest White Dwarf (the Space Wolf issue) has just arrived. On p12 there is a little hint of something new coming for Warhammer. I quote "if you go down to the woods today, you're in for a big surprise ...especially if it's one of the dark woods that cover the old world." The piece then goes to say we will find out in a few months' time.
I thought of Wood Elves, then thought they only inhabit one wood, and the quote does say woods. (Okay, maybe they inhabit more than one wood if you count the Lost Kindred, or argue that Athel Loren has small outposts in other woods.)
I thought of Beasts of Chaos, but then thought it's not that long since the last version of their army book. I confess myself puzzled. :? Despite playing Warhammer since 3rd ed, I cannot think of anything that could be in woods other than Wood Elves or Beasts of Chaos, but I can think of good reasons against both of them. Any thoughts or insights?

I'd bet wood elves, which makes me happy, my wife collects them!

We all know Skaven are in the works, but that seems a weird reference if its talking about them.

WD october:

Skaven are to come in november, show off in stores in october.

So its possible to interpret the 'wood' thing as beasts of chaos.

I've done a spot of digging and found a rumour on Bell of Lost Souls
http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2009/07/40k-fantasy-rumors-2009-2010-schedule.html

Looks like it might be the Beasts ofChaos after all. In a way, I have to say I am relieved. I'm happy with the Wood Elf book as it is and the only change I would want is that basic Glade Guard could skirmish (Seems more fluffy to me that way.
