Ok here we go with my first ever bat rep!

Just got back from my local GW where i played one of the guys necrons.

Night Spectres 1500pts

Capt. Mathias aka Shrike

Tac. 1 10 marines pf, melta, multi melta

Tac 2 10 marines flamer, heavy bolter, power sword.

Tac. 3 10 marines melta, missile launcher, power weapon.

Scout squad with power fist.

Assault squad 10 marines power weapon combat shield.

Terminator suad with assault cannon.

Dreadnought with tl lascannon and missile launcher.

Land speeder with heavy bolter

Didnt know who or what id be playing so tried to pick as balanced a force as i could with the limited resources i have at the moment.

Necrons 1500pts

Lord with orb, war scythe and phase shifter.

Destroyer Lord with orb and warsythe.

4x 10 necron warriors

10 scarab swarms

2x 3 heavy destroyers

1 tomb spider.

Deployment etc!!!

We played on a 4x4 board playing capture and control with a dawn of war set up i my opponent set up his objective on the left hand side of the board while i put my dead centre of my deplyment zone.

Deployment starts with a lord and 10 warriors the right and scarabs in the centre all as far forward as possible. My deployment is a little simpler with just Tac. 1 deployed straight onto my own objective. Mathias is attached to the AMS and goes outflanking with the scouts.

Highlights

The lord on foot uses his veil of darkness to move into my deployment zone and rapid fire tac 1. 2 marines die and then get assulted by the swarms!!
Turn 2 sees the lord charge the termies and get slapped!! (After killin 2)

Mathias promptly arrives with his assault marines and together they kill seven necrons but stay in combat much to my relief.
The destroyer lord detaches himself from the others then charges into the combat . The normal lord uses veil of darkness to take his wounded self out of combat and positions himelf and hios warriors ready to charge Mathias

Turn 3 saw Mathias and his squad now in combat with three warrior squads of various strengths and both lords!! One squad gets its METAMORPHIC KOALA! whooped and promptly runs off the board(never good for phase out.)

Turn 4 The scarabs are finally finished off by an assault by tac 3. The normal lord is put on his METAMORPHIC KOALA! only to get back up with his full 3 wounds!!! I almost had a tantrum.

The scouts arrived just in the nick of time and exactly where i want them( WOO HOO 6!) straight onto his objective.

Turn 5 saw very little action from my opponent other than my dred shrugging off everything thats fired at it!

The rest of my tactical squads advance forward to rapid fire at the destroyers killing one.

And with the roll of 2 for a turn 6 its game over and i win 2-0!!!

What did i learn from this? Other than the fact that necrons are seriously hard to kill?

Avoid lords with war scythes like the plague. The lord himself might not be awesome in cc but with a warsythe anything that gets wounded dies. No saves of any kind. Deal with them at range they need to die! Once their sorted it makes it a hell of a lot easier to make sure that necrons stay dead!!!

If you know your fighting necrons try to includ eweapons that ignore we'll be back. Thats power weapons and anything that causes instant death.
All in all i think that cc is the way to go against a warrior heavy army as their only i2.

Thanks for reading feel free to critcise or add something Questions etc

Congratz on getting your first win against 'Crons my friend! Very well done.

Sounds like you beat him on tactics, not firepower, and that is very very impressive, as was getting a cron squad to flee off the board! haha.

I'll never sware by CC alone against 'Crons, though getting locked in CC with a warrior squad is better than facing gauss weapons - damn those things hurt.

Well done though, keep up the good work! =)

We are now up against live, hostile targets. So, if Little Red Riding Hood should show up with a bazooka and a bad attitude, I expect you to chin the b!tch.

My missus says I've got the mental age of my unborn baby girl, but what does she know?
