I'm building an Honour Guard army for the Ultramarines Master of the Forge. I've also swapped the color scheme. Here are a few test models, for the army I'm working on.

(This is my ever evolving drop pod army)

Master of the Forge Conversion (he's still missing an Adeptus Mech shoulderpad)

Dreadnought (Black Reach) Conversion:

(I'm not finished painting them)

Very nice :)

Although, the paint scheme reminds me of PH World Eaters :)

Nice start. Give it some serious shading and it'll all look great!

Honor Guard for a MotF? Is that, you're making half a dozen dreads and naming them his Honor Guard? =)

We are now up against live, hostile targets. So, if Little Red Riding Hood should show up with a bazooka and a bad attitude, I expect you to chin the b!tch.

My missus says I've got the mental age of my unborn baby girl, but what does she know?

Yeah, there are 6 Dreads in the list. They are his Council, with 20 Space Marines (90% of them have bionic bits) as a a bodyguard for the council. Oh, and everyone has a drop pod.

Oh, and the paint scheme was more inspired by the Indianapolis Colts away team colorsImage

That army sounds very sweet. I'm liking the theme with bionics/etc.

Have you played this 6Dread/20Marines army yet? Let me know how it worked out for you =)

I've won 5 of 7 games with em.

Beat Ork Nob list (Thankfully Orks don't like Heavy Flamers)
Beat Blood Angels Assault Marine List (My Armless Imobilized Dreadnought kept killing assault marines in CC)
Beat a Ork list, that had a lot of grots in it. Strangely, my Ironclads couldn't seem to kill Grots in CC
Beat a Tau Farsight list (who had a lot of Str 6 guns, and thought they would be enough)
Beat a Deathwing list (my entire army came in on turn 2)
Beat a really, really badly built Space Marine Scout army.

Lost to a Space Marine Bike list (too many meltaguns)
Lost to an IG List, his valkyrie was constantly out of range of everything but the missile launcher, and it flew by to claim a distant objective in the last turn.

1850
Master of the Forge (Bolter, Servo Harness) - attached to Tac 1
Master Armourer (Vulkan) - attached to Tac 2

Ironclad Dread w/ Heavy Flamer, Hammer, Hurricane Bolter
Ironclad Dread w/ Heavy Flamer x 2, Hammer, CCW
Ironclad Dread w/ Heavy Flamer x 2, Hammer, CCW

Tac Squad Sgt, w/ Power Weapon, Bolt Pistol, Flamer, Multi-melta
Tac Squad Sgt, w/ Power Weapon, Bolt Pistol, Meltagun, Missile Launcher

Dreadnought with Missile Launcher, Multi-Melta
Ironclad Dread w/ Heavy Flamer, Melta-Gun, Hammer, CCW
Ironclad Dread w/ Heavy Flamer, Melta-Gun, Chainfist, CCW

8 Drop Pods - Storm Bolters - 2 have Beacons

My only problem is explaining why I swapped the color scheme.

Love the feel of the army although i am a sucker when it comes to themed armies :D:D

you could if you run out of ideas you could always turn them into a Praetors of Orpheus Honour guard army

I have the Praetors of O shoulderpads at home, but it was too much of a hassel to try and file off the really cool ultramarine symbols from models like the tyranid hunters and some old veterans... so I gave the ultramarines a big hug, and welcomed them into my home.

So, no more P.o.O marines? Thougth it was the original idea of yours.

White ultras sound a little weird, but maybe white Consuls ? But again, different chapter symbol.
Another option could be to cover the UM-symbol ( additional bitz, green stuff ), you don't need a chapter badge on every marine.

As usual we may expect pics of those 6 dreads council. :D

PS: i doubt a dread would be allowed in football ( or bloodbowl ) :P

If someone said that Joe Namath or Mike Ditka could play football forever, I'd allow it.
