OK, so today a friend of mine from work brought his Grey Knights over and we played 3, 500 point games. I lost the first game, won the second, and we had a draw on the third game.

1st game.... Pitched battle, with deployment zones in opposite corners.

Highlights from that game was my plasma gunner blowing himself to tiny bits on the 2nd turn, and the rest of his squad had joined him by the end of turn 3. By the end of turn 5 i had about 4 marines left on the field, who promptly got wiped off the board at the beginning of turn 6.

2nd game.... 3 objectives placed randomly about the table, deployment halves (otherwise my deployment zone was pretty much right on top of 2 of the markers). This game was a war of attrition, by the time the game was over, the only one left standing was my commander. at the end of the 7th turn (yes, we kept rolling high enough for the game to keep going) i charged my Heavy bolter gunner and tactical sgt at his Psycannon and Justicar, as they were holding an objective, where upon we wiped the others squad out.

3rd game...single objective on top of a hill in the center of the board, deployment zones in opposite corners. The main highlight from this, was my commander taking over 50 shots from 2 separate squads of GKs wielding Storm Bolters and Psycannons. He was finally killed in a second assault by the remnants of his Brother-Captain's squad (which was one Knight, the Psycannon, and the Justicar), which in turn i wiped out with my full tactical squad. The game ended a draw at the end of 6 turns, with the last 5 marines standing locked in close combat, too far from the objective for anyone to lay claim to it.

Things i learned: Even with my opponent FORGETTING his psychic abilities (his list included shroud) all day long, Grey Knights still pack a serious punch. Rolling One's with Plasma Guns is not very fun, but quite entertaining when he gets his armor save.

Taking Artificer armor on a captain and then putting him in a squad, in a 500 point game, is overkill...but running him solo and watching well over 50 shots being taken at him, AND surviving CC for a round is quite entertaining.

Overall, my best unit on the day would have to be the stand in commander (i had painted up an Iron Snake this morning and had to run him, since i didnt have the points for my chapter master)

My unit that was shooting blanks, would have to be one of the Tac squads (obviously).. it just seemed that all day long, the tac squad that was deployed on my left flank just couldnt hit the broad side of a Land Raider to save its life (and often times, they got ripped up early, and were usually gone about halfway through the games)

lol, i woulda been more detailed, but i didnt keep any kind of notes during the games :(

and pictures wouldnt have been all that great, since half of my marines had no arms, and his GKs were all just primed and assembled.

I found the game to be very fun, but there's ALOT to pay attention to, and alot to learn.

Congrats to entering the battlefield.

These poor marines had to fight without arms?
And both sides, to keep it balanced?

Hard training methods, you seem to have.

You don't need to start as detailed as DR does, maybe next time we get more and someday also pics.

It sounds like your first few games were really exciting mate, congratz!

You'll quickly pick up the basics, and before you know it, you'll have plenty of battle experience and lots of knowledge to draw on.

Dont worry about the quality of the battle report, what matters is you enjoyed the game =)

Keep up the good work boss!

We are now up against live, hostile targets. So, if Little Red Riding Hood should show up with a bazooka and a bad attitude, I expect you to chin the b!tch.

My missus says I've got the mental age of my unborn baby girl, but what does she know?
