Greetings Captain Levitas, of the 8th.

We have need of you. Permission for you to come aboard our Cruiser. We have need of a Watcher. Also, you believe Brakaan has it on Laconia? I will contact you if anything is retrieved. Although, the Lord will also be informed. Be wary of the Earthen. I find their sudden progress... unsual, seeing as we have met such heavy resistance. I have contacted Ravenspire for permission to use the Darkhunters in the storming of Darsuc. Milvus will be gratefully recieved.

Greetings White Ravens on behalf of captain Levitas. This is ship master Icarus of the Silent Night

Captain Levitas regretfully declines your invite prefering to leave polatics to the unbound wisdom of the White Ravens. He is at present preparing the 8th Assault company for war. The campaign for Laconia seems to be going well and the 8th will divert to Ansul, leaving the battle on Laconia in your capable hands of course.

Braakan is belived to have scattered numerous STCs through out the system, be alert.

"Very well, First. However if its true Barkaan placed one in Darsuc-", intoned Darkreever.
"First, you know full well I call this cowardice."
Talonclaw turned round.
"Jaspercatius, you are as noble as you are fierce." He leaned closer the marine and whispered in his ear. "The garrison is low at the Ravenspire and with the 2nd Company Captain in his current state I need a competent commander there. This matter is concluded."

The servitor trundled towards Talonclaw as he prowled the corridors.
"Milvus is on the system edge."
"Excellent."
"He is under attack by Word Bearers."
"Damn! Prepare the forces to attack Darsuc. This battle ends in a few hours. Ready the drop pods. Ready my shuttle as well. tell the troops not to drop till I return with the Darkhunters. We need them for this fight.

It Begins... I haven't been on here for a while as I've been preparing, but now... the time is upon us. Three games will be played.

-The Darkhunter Skirmish
-First Strike
-Conquest

The battle will involve the attack on Darsuc, capital city of Laconia, it is held by a World Eaters strike force. The first game will be played tommorrow. The second in three days. The Third on Saturday. Enjoy.

-The Darkhunter Skirmish-

Talonclaw has been dispatched to get the Vanguard Veterans to the attack on Darsuc. If he can get at least three members of the board, the whole squad will be in the third battle. If Talonclaw fails to get off before they do, he is not on the third attack though. Now... it begins.

Chaos Lord with Mark of Tzeentch and Daemon Weapon.

The Game being played consisted of four turns.

I sucessfully rolled for turn one, I deployed my units in a spearhead formation, planning to hug cover, while he deployed his forces spread out.

Turn one:

I jump packed the Vanguard Veterans behind a small outcrop and ran Talonclaw up behind them. My opponent moved his two squads in a pincer movement toward my force. He opened up with a hail of bolter fire, but failed to inflict any calsulties.

Turn two:

My Vanguard Veterans moved six inches towards one of the Chaos Marine squads. Hopefully, they would be just in 6" when it came to assault. Talonclaw moved toward the other squad, determined to slow them. The Vanguards fired four bolt pistol shots, wounding with three a killing two! When it came to the assault phase, I rolled some awful results. I killed a meagre five. His attacks back, killed none. Talonclaw was fired at by the other Chaos Marine squad, the plasma gun was fired first, but he passed his 5+ inv. save! He failed his 2+ armour save against a bolter round however. The Chaos Lord fired his daemon weapon, but caused a wound on himself. In his assault phase, I killed off all of his squad save one. However, this last chaos minion killed one of my men!

Turn three:

Talonclaw changed course to attack the chaos lord. This time, he would take vengeance on the accursed. Talonclaw fired his pistol at the chaos lord, but he passed his 3+ save. In the assault phase, I easily finished off the last marine and with my consolidation move, edged towards the table edge. Alas, though! I forgot to move the First White Raven into assault. The Chaos Marines fired their bolter shells at Talonclaw, knocking another wound off. The chaos lord fired his daemon weapon at the Darkhunters and killed another marine! His Chaos Lord attacked Talonclaw. This proved to be a bad move on his part. I caused three wounds and he failed all inv. saves! However, I also failed my armour save. Talonclaw was severely injured and slumped down.

Turn four: My Vanguard Squad moved as close to the table edge as I could get them. I hoped all three would be within three inches. He fired his three boltes that were in range at me. He caused a wound. I rolled... a groan erupted from my opponent. I saved it. I checked the distance from the edge... I had made it. Talonclaw may not be in the last fight, but the Darkhunters were.

The attack on Darsuc's outer wall will be posted on Friday.

-First Strike-

A small detachment of the Raven Guard 3rd Company is planning to bring down the curtain walls surrounding Darsuc. To win they must have one scout squad in contact with the wall at any point during the game. On a 2+ the game ends, on a 1, there is one final turn. This represents them placing a targeter beacon for a Thunderhawk strike. If the Tau player achieves victory though, he will be able to automatically deploy first in the third game.

Scout Squad - Scout Sergeant Corvaan (Telion), 3 Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher.
Scout Squad - 4 Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher.
Scout Squad - 4 Bolters, Heavy Bolter.
Scout Squad - 4 Bolters, Heavy Bolter.
Scout Squad - 4 Shotguns, Missile Launcher.
Tactical Squad - Plasma gun, Multi-melta.

Tau - Ca'rdyl Cadre
Tau Battlesuit commander.
Around 6 Tau Battlesuits.
Stealth Team.
Stealth Team.
8-man Firewarrior squad.
8-man Firewarrior squad.
Sniper Drone team.

I wasn't able to get first turn. The Tau player deployed his firewarriors and sniper drone team in a battleline on the wall. His Battle suit also stood on there ready to jump down. His stealth teams and commander were deployed just behind the gate, so they could exit quickly. I deplyed my Scouts in a scattered formation along the table. I would hold my Tactical Squad back a bit. I'd need them to take down his battlesuits and commander.

Turn one:

No movement. He opened fire with his pulse rifles and took down 8 scouts. It hurt, but it could've been worse. I found this out when lost three tactical marines to Tau sniper fire. As his turn ended, I moved my Scout squads into the cover scattered all over the table. They had stealth cloaks and those would prove invaluable against heavy fire. The Scouts nestled down in heavy cover, but in doing so, couldn't fire. Hopefully, I would not take such heavy calsulties next turn. It seemed I'd jinxed myself, as I would find out later.

Turn two:

The battlesuits all hopped off the wall. They couldn't draw line of sight to my squads they were in range of and my tactical squad was out of range. The firewarriors unleashed another salvo of deadly fire, this time only killing one! However, this left me with all of Corvaan's squad left and one Scout from another squad with a sniper rifle. Add to that my Tactical Squad and you have a very small force. His sniper drone opened fire at the tactical squad, but caused no wounds. My turn. I kept my remaining troops still. The plasma gun and multi-melta were in range of a Tau battlesuit and I killed him easily. It seemed I'd spotted a Line of sight he'd missed. I fired Corvaan at the firewarriors on the wall and killed two. My sniper rifles caused another to die. The missile launcher veered off wildly, the scout wielding it missed.

Turn three:

The battlesuits jumped forward in front of my tactical squad. With a salvo of fusion blasters. The squad dropped. Dead. My scout squad was fired at my everything. In the end I had only Corvaan left. All would hang on this turn. Corvaan moved 6" through cover easily, and the wall appeared to be only 6" away. Corvaan pumped his legs and ran, just touching the wall. I had done it... I rolled the final dice as required, looking away. I heard a sharp laugh and turned around. A one.

Turn four:

The Tau player, promptly blasted Corvaan to ashes. This battle had been lost. Those xenos didn't know what awaited them when the dawn would break.

Conclusion:

The battle was a deep blow for the Raven Guard. However, they readied their Thunderhawks and drop pods. In the morning Darsuc would burn, and the skies would open up and weep.
