I have the third company.

A quick run down, as i have work soon.

During the years when Captain Shrike was absent from the company, Veteran Sgt Corvair took command. Corvair has moved on now to be the Chapters ancient and reputedly knows nearly every Astartes in the battle companies very well. a born line officer he can lead the Astartes on the ground to achieve the stuff of legends.

Currently the Third are opperating on the eastern fringe, Primairy with actions against the Tau and rebel guardsmen. The Entire third company has assembled and coupled with elements from the first company, including the chapter master himself, are soon to set a crushing blow to a rebvel system. (up coming apocalypse game ;) )

This is fluff for my personal branch of the Raven Guard:

Name: The 5th Shadow Company/The Raven Guard 12th

Homeworld
Deliverance

Insignia
The Company uses the Raven Guard Chapter symbol

Gene-Seed
Raven Guard

Appearance
The Company's livery has changed to reflect the veteran status of all marines present.

Background:
The Raven Guard, a first founding chapter reknowned for their legendary covert operations and rapid reaction maneuvers. Suffering severe losses during the heresy, the Legion was low on the number of troops and equipment they can field. Thanks to their mastery of covert operations they have been able to still serve the imperium wherever these skills were needed. When the Second founding occurred, the legion was broken down to it's successor chapters, officially. The Primarch, in his wisdom founded another company in secret to help cope with the Imperium's growing need for his specialists.

Corax founded a secret 11th company, naming it the 1st Shadow Company, The purpose of this company was to ensure that the Raven Guard could react quickly to situations all over the Imperium without the presence of the entire chapter or even that of a full battle company. The 1st Company was very small, consisting of 21 of the Chapter's best marines, they carried out operations in secret. After years of service, the secret 11th company was destroyed and had to be reformed. This became known as the 2nd Shadow Company which was bigger and better equipped then the 1st, this Company lasted until the day that Corax left for the Eye of terror. Hoping to recover their Primarch, the 2nd Shadow Company was sent after him and disappeared.

Shortly after that the 3rd Company was founded to fulfill the original role of the 11th Company, after many millenia in service, they embarked on a crusade to find both the Primarch and the 2nd Company, however they too were lost to the warp. Subsequently, the 4th and 5th Shadow Companies(now the 11th and 12th Raven Guard Company) were founded, both with different purposes, the 4th was founded to continue the initial role of the 11th. The task of finding the Primarch and the lost companies, fell upon the 5th Shadow Company.

Organization
The 5th currently consist of roughly 80 of the Chapter's finest, each member knows that he has a part to play in the company's battle plans and works hard to be the best at that role. All of the company are expert marksmen, and excellent close quarters combatants, but only a few are chosen to don the Jump Pack and fly into battle. The company is borne upon the Battle Barge "Deliverance Beckons". Led by Shadow Captain Synidus, the company though small in number has access to some of the best technology the imperium has to offer thanks largely to Deliverance's production capacity.

Modus Operandi
The 5th follows the combat doctrine of the Raven Guard Closely. Very often, enemies would find themselves being pinned down by heavy small arms fire from all sides while the assault troopers of the chapter move quickly to cut down their bewildered foes. Drop Pods are used to deliver tactical squads and Dreadnoughts into the heart of the enemy's forces. The company's scouts are not initiates, but rather members of the company who remove their power armour to allow themselves better movement and stealth through enemy territory.

The company never engage in frontal battles and as such shun the use of Rhinos and heavier armour. Instead relying on speedy aerial assaults.

Beliefs
The Company follows the beliefs of the Chapter as a whole, i.e. Seeing both the Emperor and Corax as exceptional men. The company values cool nerves under fire and surgical precision to crazed ferocity, all members are required to be able to fill each other's roles in case the other dies. It is not uncommon for squad members to pick up the weapons of their fallen sergeants and lead the squad to the end of the battle.

Chapter Motto
The Company holds two mottos, First being the chapter motto "Victorus Aut Mortis" and the second being the company motto "Specialis et Vires", in Secrecy is Strength.

Characters

Shadow Captain Synidus

Born on Deliverance, Synidus joined the Raven Guard at a relatively late age. As a young boy he was trained by his father in hand-to-hand combat and has enjoyed the thrill of close-quarters combat to this day. At the age of 11, he was enlisted in the Raven Guard to begin training as a space marine. His time as a scout saw him participating in some of the Chapter's most dangerous operations to date. On one mission, the chapter was sent to assassinate a renegade lord holed up within his fortress, thinking this a simple mission, the chapter sent in 2 Veteran Squads, and 1 Scout Squad. Synidus was amongst them. Nothing was out of the ordinary as they stormed the castle, they easily made their way through to the throne room. There upon the throne sat the rogue lord, or so they thought. They opened fire and shooting at the lord, only to find that it was nothing but a holographic projection. Before they could react, the walls of the throne room reconfigured themselves into a massive labyrinth that isolated the Raven Guard. Synidus found himself alone in a dark corridor, he tried to shoot the wall, but the bolt ricocheted off into the darkness without leaving so much as a mark. For several days Synidus wandered the maze, being attacked by strange beasts, he had to resort to hand to hand fighting until finally he found his way out of the castle. Looking up at the moonlit sky he thought of his comrades and resolved to save them the only way he knew how, by seeking out the lord. Climbing the steep walls of the castle, Synidus found a high window and began his room to room search from the top down. After hours of sneaking through corridors and interrogating guards, Synidus came upon the lord as he slumbered. Awaking him from his slumber, Synidus patiently tortured the lord until he was willing to free his comrades. He then killed the lord and rejoined his surviving comrades, who hailed him as a hero. This experience would later shape his beliefs and leadership style, doing whatever must be done to achieve his objectives, sometimes resorting to means that others would call extreme, Synidus' gambles paid off and led him to much success. After that episode Synidus was fully inducted and given the honour of becoming an assault marine. Shortly after receiving his terminator honours, the 12th Company was formed. He was chosen to lead the shadow company into the eye of terror where his adventures continue.

Other Characters and pictures to be added soon. Hope you like it :D

NAME: 5th Company of the Raven Guard

COLOURS: Normal chapter colours

BADGE: Chapter Insignia

HOMEWORLD: Deliverance

GENESEED: Raven Guard

I am currently playing as the legendary 5th company. (i hope to make tham legendary because i don't think that anyone has ever heard of them)

On Shadow-Captain Loriens second mission as a captain things went very wrong. They were under the orders of a senior Inquisitor who had declared a Chapter in this region of space "Exccomunicate Traitoris" (or something like that) but rather than calling in the Grey Knights which is the usual option, this Inquisitor sent the 5th company of the Raven Guard instead.

The Raven Guard struck hard and fast and with the help of some Imperial Guard Regiments managed to lead a battle group of the enemy chapter into a trap where none escaped. The Inquisitor praised the Raven Guards effectiveness but something wasn't right.

On the morning of the 5th day three squads of Grey Knight Terminators teleported in and seeing the Raven Guard being lead by the Inquisitor, they immediately launched a devastating attack. Ten battle brothers from a devastator squad were cut to pieces on the end of their weapons. Captain Lorien was astounded by the attack. After all they were working for a senior Inquisitor. Then Captain Lorien realized that as the Grey Knights have never turned traitor it must be the Inquisitor who was the traitor and that the 5th company had been nothing but pawns for chaos! With loathing in his heart Captain Lorien turned around and threw himself at the Inquisitor ripping him apart in midair with his lightning claws, even as he watched though he realized he had been too late.

The flesh of the Inquisitor began to rupture and bloat and split and with a yell a daemon prince of Khorne leapt into the air beating back huge wings.Aided by the Grey Knights and his devastators who poured fire into the daemon and the librarian who attacked with his mind Captain Lorien managed to cast dow the daemon and the Grey Knights banished it for a hundred years and a day.

The 5th companies final fate has been considered by the Inquisition but Captain Lorien gained favour with the Inquisition by killing the Daemon Prince and one hopes the 5th company will not be declared heretics. In the end they haven't been but only just. The chapter they had been fighting has been discovered of practicing unholy rituals and are currently being destroyed by the 5th company. Also the 5th company have destroyed several chaos cells in the sector and are now on good terms with the Inquisition.

Raven Guard 4th Company "Ilionesa Compliance force"

Colours: Red trim, White veterans, Gold 1st Company veterans

Force Compisition:

The Ilionesa complicance force consisted of the 4th company of the Raven Guard supported by veterans of the 1st company, 3 chaplains, 2 librarians and master techmarine No'chva. A small contingent of scouts also accompanied the force hoping to prove themselves as true space marines on the battlefield.
Using the battlebarge "Righteous fury" as their transport and base of operations for the duration of the campaign the force was able to be well supported with three dreadnoughts, drop pods, troop transports and a rarity within the Raven Guard a Land Raider.

The 4th company is led by captain Ven Marin. He is acknowledged within the chapters heirarchy as somewhat of an outsider, his company fighting in his own mold hard and dogged in their determination. In battle he wields a combi-melta famed within the chapter as having brought more foul xenos vehicles low than any other.

In contrast with other companies of the raven guard Marin is keen to employ heavier aspects of the Space Marine armoury, the 4th company is currently accompanied by 10 battle brothers trained in the art of deep space combat, boarding space hulks and the shock tactics associated with terminator armour.

Supported by a stealthy firebase inserted covertly before the eve of battle the 4th company strikes, assault marines diving from their thunderhawk transports whilst their battle brothers arrive behind the enemy lines, drop pods smashing defences assunder.

Cadian 28th "Xenos purge"

Supporting the Raven Guard in the campaign the Cadian 28th provide the means to bring the planet truly to compliance. They operate from the vast command leviathan structure "Imperator Deus Machina". From this mobile command they can persecute actions across the single continent of Ilionesa.

The Cadian 28th are a regiment of typical Imperial Guard structure, particularly adept at city fighting and siege warfare. They boast a large armoured contingent and an artillery detachment of legendary accuracy.

Ilionesa

This Beta class desert plan lies deep in the leeward spiral arm of the galaxy one hundred lightyears from the border of segmentum solar. It consists of one continent which sweeps from the north pole to 20 degrees latitude below the equator. Ilionesa is primarily a mechanicus outpost, its three hive cities located around the edges of a vast deposit of ceramitian ore which accounts for 20% of the continents land mass.
This has proved a valuable resource for the imperium. The planet was not populated before imperials first reached it, however it is thought an ancient galactic culture once used this planet. [Records expunged =][= order of the emperors holy inquisition =][= ordo xenos]

Current Campaign:

Astropathic Transmission M41.301

"Urgent Transmission, Vermillion Code....

Eldar raiders reported in Hive Verconium, Initial reports speak of huge losses

Hives Kethav and Stonos report strange activity in mines surrounding the core of Ceramitium, explorators beta, omega, theta have not reported in six days

Ilionesa requests the aide of the emperor forthwith in establishing superiority over the foul xenos

PDF force will not engage until our supremacy is assured, Ilionesa must not fall"

This is the fluff for my successor chapter

Name: Eaglewing

Homeworld: Revenant

Insignia: White Wing (found under Ultramarines on transfer sheet)

Gene-Seed: Raven Guard

Appearance:
Black armour, silver knee pads and elbow pads, white helmets, white shoulder pad on the right with black squad markings and black shoulder pad on the left with the Insignia, black shoulder trims for veterans, red for assault, tactical, devastator. Eagle on breastplate is white.

Background:
The Eaglewing are a third founding chapter of the Raven Guard. For over 8000 years they have guarded the Maelstrom and have constantly been fighting chaos. They aided the Imperium in the 13th black crusade by stopping a large chaos host from the maelstrom threatening to strike at some unprotected systems from behind the Imperial lines, the entire chapter assembled to stop this host as it was 1000s strong, they participated in the first war for Armageddon with their entire first wing, or the skylords. Only thirty veterans returned. The chapter is on good terms with the Imperial Guard and the Inquisition.

Organization:
The Eaglewing differ to the Codex: Astartes slightly, each company is actually called a wing, the 1st wing is also known as the sky lords and the 2nd wing is also known as the wind lords and the 3rd are known as the gust lords. Each wing is 100 men strong and follows standard codex organization apart from the sky lords who are 150 men strong, the sky lords only consist of veterans. The Sky lords have very few suits of terminator armour and veterans often take to the field wearing jump packs and in drop pods. The chapter is extremely well equipped because there are two forge worlds situated in their sub-sector that keep the chapter stocked up with equipment. This means that the eaglewing chapter have lots of vehicles unlike many other successor chapters of the Raven Guard. Some consider it strange that the chapter makes little use of terminator armour and bikes when they have all the resources that they have available.

Traits: See but don't be seen. No mercy, No respite, Death before dishonour, Eye to eye

Combat doctrine:
The eaglewing focus more heavily on stealth and sabotage than other successor chapters, they also focus on lightning fast assaults, they always make sure the battle is truly won before retreating to make sure no counter-attack is imminent. The eaglewing make more use of tanks than other successor chapters and they favour the orbital assault tactic heavily.

Recent History:
Due to a catastrophic event in the 13th black crusade the entire 10th wing were destroyed upon the strike cruiser Idomans Bane. currently there are only 20 scouts in operation because of the time it has taken to rebuild the 10th wing.

Chapter Strength:
Chapter strength is at about 970 marines, with a total capacity for 1050 marines.

This is my old fluff, it needs to be updated and I will probably do that latter. The list will probably become illegal with the new SM dex, So Itll probably be used with the BA codex. Anyways like I said its out of date so forgive the lapses and such. I will update it when the new SM dex gets out and im in a SM mood again

Chapter Name: Storm Ravens

Gene-seed: Raven Guard

Home Planet: ?

Founding: 8th

Chapter Colors: Midnight blue with black trim, Brazen Brass for non elite assault squads, Gold trim for elite assault squads

Chapter Symbol: A Raven enwrapped in lightning

MO: Extreme concentration on infiltrating scouts supported by elite jump infantry.

Traits:
Blessed be the warrior, Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients
Eye to Eye (the only trait that will work for list) We stand Alone
Other Imposed Restrictions:
No tanks
No Bikes
No Terminators
No Veteran Squads
No Devastators
No Rhinos or Razorbacks
No Command Squads

Homeworld: The atmosphere of . . Is almost constantly engulfed in electrical storms. The Fortress Monastery of the Chapter is a massive stone structure so as not to suffer from constant electrical strikes. The Monastery itself features the only tower high enough to reach above the storm and give the only view of the sun, this room being the Fortress’s Chapel as no force of nature or man can ever impede the Emperor’s holy light. The rest of the world is a dark world where the civilization is kept in a feudal medieval state, which war over the rich mineral deposits and strong forests. The world’s terrain is oddly covered in thick vegetation that has somehow evolved beyond the need of sunlight to prosper, but the process of this is unknown. The constant arcs of lightning that the jump pack equipped marines must fly through give them above average skills in maneuvering.

Recruitment: Not long after the chapter’s founding, a decision was made to change the method in which new recruits are initiated. This was decided after the new chapter participated in a crusade lead by the Black Templars chapter. After seeing the success of the way they trained their Neophytes, the chapter master and senior command decided to use a modified version of this program. Shortly after changes started to take place the senior command beseeched their Templar brethren for their blessing of this undertaking. When the new system reached the point of satisfaction the Templar’s Master of Sanctity gifted his Storm Knight counterpart a mighty Thunder hammer to always remind him and his chapter of the sheer power the Adeptus Astartes is capable of…and responsible for.

Training: The training and promotion process takes place in five stages

1st stage: The new members after receiving extensive infiltration and combat training at the Monastery or onboard one of the chapter’s battle barges the new recruits are grouped into a squad and equipped with Bolters. They scouts ahead unsupervised to gather initial recon and set up ambushes. Those who live long enough (supposedly by the Emperors divine will of selection) gain entry into the elite scout squads

2nd stage: During the second stage the now battle tested scouts trade in their bolters for silenced bolt pistols and stealthy combat knifes. These scouts now operate under the direct supervision of a senior marine that marks each scouts achievement in their quest to enter the next stage. These scouts who have by now demonstrated their ability to survive now learn the ability to deliver punishing close combat ambushes. Those found deserving enter the 3rd stage.

3rd stage: The Marine now receives the chapter’s gene-seed and power armor. He is moved into one of the chapters reserve companies as he begins to undertake his flight training while he also begins to learn more of the chapter’s past and the role he will now play in it. The Tactical squads are rarely deployed except in cases where the famed jump infantry would not be inappropriate or where a stronger supporting role than the scouts units are capable is needed.

4th stage: The Marine now fights exclusively with a jump pack. These marines now can earn rank and earn positions within the chapter. They are equipped with Melta-bombs and act as a secondary anti-armor force whose purpose besides bringing death by bolt and chain sword lies in destroying tank and artillery emplacements. Those seen to proper in the fury of close combat are initiated into the elite of the chapter and the 5th stage

5th stage: Upon initiation into the 5th stage the marine is now a member of the hallowed 1st company of the chapter. The Marine exchanges his Melta-bombs and now actively seeks purely to deliver damaging and extremely effective charges and ambushes from above. These marines now seek promotion to veteran sergeants and captain, as there is no terminator company.

This organization style results in a large number of scouts and the chapter has abolished the scout company doctrine in the Codex Astartes. Each company consists of a large number or scouts and assault marines supported by speeders. There also exists 3 reserve companies which spend most of their time as a garrison at the fortress while they undergo further training. In larger crusades and times of need, they will accompany the battle companies to war. Each stage plays its necessary part ranging from supporting fire from the newest recruits to the devastating battle deciding charges deceived by the elite of the chapter.

The chapter while initially known for its open mindedness to learning new things and new ways to wage war from imperial allies of all sorts now treats outside sources of authority such as the Inquisition and Administration with an unsaid hostility. The reason for this is unknown to those outside the chapter. The incident occurred on the world of Raninthorn when a company of the chapter was engaged with the foul forces of chaos. An Inquisitor arrived and requested the chapter for his own mission of higher importance. The trusting captain granted his request and they embarked on a nigh suicidal mission into the heart of enemy held territory. They retrieved an ancient tome that the Inquisitor then took and destroyed. The chaos forces fell apart as this seeming small object was the root of their heresy. Nevertheless, before this happened, the Hive City the company was defending, left defenseless, was slaughtered along with most of the planet’s populace. The chapter felt that the enemy could have been eventually destroyed the enemy force and saved the civilians. For this reason and the drastic casualties taken by the company (almost destroying it entirely) the chapter no longer embraces those outside of the Adeptus Astartes as quickly as they used to.

( This is my attempt to explane the “ We stand Alone” Trait disadvantage)

Still Needed:

Homeworld Name
Battle-cry

Nova Ravens

Chapter Master: Raven Lord Stryker

Colours: Black and Blue with Gray Trim

Speciality: Reconnaissance/Covert Operations

Chapter Traits

Advantages: See but Don’t Be Seen
Blessed be the Warriors
Disadvantages: Flesh over Steel
Death before Dishonour

Founding

After the Isstvan V massacre, the Raven Guard Primarch Corax began to study the lost art of cloning in order to rebuild his depleted legion. Unfortunately, the majority of these clones suffered unexpected mutations and while they survived, they were reduced to beings that were little more than ferocious animals: known as the Weregeld. However, some of these clones succeeded without the mutations and were widely accepted into the ranks of the Raven Guard. These men were formed into the Thirtieth Company, experts in lightning raids and known for ferocity in battle exceeded only by the Space Wolves. After being sent on a mission with low survival probabilities, they were never heard from again and presumed lost.

In late M41, they suddenly reappeared out of nowhere, providing assistance to a beleaguered Imperial Guard regiment who were under constant attack by the rapidly expanding Tau Empire. After revealing themselves to be the missing Thirtieth Company, they were assessed by a team of Inquisitors before being sent back to Deliverance to await news of their fate – the current Chapter Master of the Raven Guard subjected them to all kinds of tests by the Chapter’s Librarians, Chaplains and Apothecaries to test for any sign of taint or corruption. Finding none, the information was sent to the High Lords of Terra who almost immediately sanctioned the Marines be formed into their own chapter – the Nova Ravens were born.

Although too small to be fielded as a viable front-line force, the Nova Ravens have met with great success as a scout force or acting as raiding parties, striking deep behind enemy lines to cut off an enemy’s supply lines. Although frowned upon by other Space Marine Chapters, the Nova Ravens also make use of Imperial Guard support and have been known to requisition the use of Imperial Drop-Troops and Aircraft to divert an enemy’s attention and allow teams of Nova Ravens to sneak in undetected.

Organisation

The Chapter is formed into smaller units known as Wings made up of between three and six Assault Squads, up to six Scout Squads and up to three Squadrons of Land Speeders. Sometimes a Devastator Squad will be employed to destroy armoured units at long-range although this is a rare occurrence and will only be used when a large amount of armour is expected. Each Wing is led by a Wing Commander and an Honour Guard, known as the Commander’s “Wingmen”. The Chapter Master and also Commander of the First Wing is known as the Raven Lord and is usually accompanied by a pet Cyber-Raven and an elite squad of wingmen picked from the best men from the Chapter.
Combat Doctrine

Depending on their objective, the Nova Ravens rely on either teams of Scouts to gather information or commit acts of sabotage or using Assault Marines and Land Speeeders to raid enemy supply lines and cause confusion among the enemy. On more than one occasion, an enemy force has mutinied against their leaders or deserted due to the actions of a Nova Ravens raiding force.

The Nova Ravens are also renowned for requisitioning the use of squads Imperial Guard Stormtroopers to provide distractions and the Imperial Navy should more air cover than the Chapter’s Thunderhawk Gunships can provide be required.

can't we be the same company?

If we get many more members they will be forced to be a successor chapter?

If someone else has got like lets say the 5th company then someone else can also have the 5th company, right?
:?:

I don't see why people should be forced to play different companies, especially if they played the company or successor they played before they joined the site.

Especially when you consider that a lot of the companies are reserve companies and as such are rarely used in battle...

Thats very true Stryker, i'm not imposing any sort of compulsion to choose a company. We're all mature enough to be alright with duplicates, right?
