Well, I've been promising I'd do this for a while, ever since I revealed how many battle brothers I own. As you can see, I'm still working on the models, especially now I'm re-organising the squads in the light of the new Codex. Not shown are the Thunderhawk (being repaired after crash-landing - not an experience I want to talk about) or the Thunderfire cannon, still in its box. You're looking at 20 or so years of collecting there: everything from the original metal and RTB1 plastic marines up to the new Sternguard and Vanguard.

Enjoy.

Image

All 414 brothers and their vehicles. 1st Company on the left, 2nd, then 3rd and finally 10th Company on the right. In the centre, you can see the Chapter Master, his Honour Guard and the Chapter's dreadnoughts. Back right, apothecaries and techmarines. And yes that's a Lightning back left.

Image

The 1st Company - all 100 plus their officers.

Image

The 2nd Company - apologies for the blur on this one.

Image

The 3rd Company - and on this one. I'll replace them when I can. The 2 lightning claws guys in the front are the same officer in power and terminator armour. I've done the same for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Companies - I can field the officer, with the same weapons, with jumppack, without jumppack or in terminator armour. Am I mad?

Image

The 10th Company - Spot the Librarian and CHaplain in scout armour.

Every Landraider has its own unique door art. Couldn't resist Carpe Noctem for a Chapter called Night Hawks.

I see a Tempest! Nice to know I'm not the only one prepared to fork out for Forge World models. I'm liking the colour scheme (simpler is usually better), but maybe the Lightning stands out a bit too much from them...

Not that I can talk...my Lightnings are now blood red :P

There's more than the Tempest (I do want a 2nd one). Damocles Rhino, Landraider Prometheus, Whirlwind Hyperios.
When I said there were 414, I forgot to count the Apothecaries and Techmarines. There's another 13 or so guys there.

There's a reason for the LIghtning's colour scheme - it's Imperial Navy and ground attack - so camo green above, pale blue/grey underneath - not that you can see it from this angle.

Forgive me for missing those, it's late and my eyesight is terrible (too long looking at computer screens).

I've got two myself...if I did White Scars, I'd take three for my Heavy Support choices, and maybe another three for Fast Attack...they're good but I find their usefulness limited now.

And I'm so glad I found someone else who spends too much on Forge World!

Thanks - some day I'd like to add the remaining companies - don't tell my other half. Maybe, more realistically, at least, paint up the standards for them, and create a Captain for each Company.

SO many!

Really impressive, and a cool paint scheme. Love the individual land raider art, nice touch! So many hours of work in building and painting...scary! But worth it when you take them all in for a big family photo like that.

Good to have someone with the neccessary number of marines at SoC :D

Always go for chapter-strength
It's only another 30 years of 40k for you then. :P

Used them ever as ONE force (apoc?).

Sadly, no. I have fielded a full battle company with vehicle support on 2 occasions. 1st time, I fielded everyone in transports including the 4 Landraiders I owned then. The amount of shots thrown out was kind of scary. Leman Russ after Leman Russ went up, the Crusader and Prometheus were taking out a squad each, every turn. Needless to say, I won. The opposing guardsmen couldn't throw enough high strength weaponry at me to do any seriuos damage. 2nd time I took the Thunderhawk - turn 1 it took out a Dreadnought, Landraider, Predator and a complete Ork mob.

The lesson I learnt on both occasions was that it's very hard for an enemy to face a full marine company that's well handled.

This guy was the Captain of the 1st Company, a veteran Tyranid fighter (anyone else remember the Ichar IV campaign?). Now he's part of my fluff, but might get resurrected someday as Captain of another company.

Image

A tau who should have paid more attention to his sentry duty.

Image

And the new addition to my Sternguard - heavy flamer time. "I love the smell of promethium in the morning."
A pretty easy conversion to do. I cut the Terminator arm off a spare heavy flamer, cut a plastic bolter arm to match, a bit of glue later, and voila, one Sternguard ready to toast...

Nice work Jed! Can we see a front shot of the Captain, and yes I remember Ichar well. My Red talons saw service there.

Well, if you get that close to a tau it's always game over!

Like the heavy flamer, and really simple too. I'm thinking of using a multi melta dev and switching the nozzles, but yours has great movment so I might borrow your idea.

Feel free. No doubt you've worked it out already, but those are assault marine legs combined with tac torso, head and arms. I used a spot of blu tac to experiment with the angle of the body before I settled on the one you see.

I'll add another pic of the Captain and the tau killer so you can see what they look like from the front.
