Quoted from BoL
"So the plot thickens folks. In a highly unusual marketing move, word is starting to dribble out of GW of a totally secret product that will be unveiled in stores in August. It is described as something totally new and unheard of, that will be a limited run. The current rumors swirling about are:

-Product announcement on 15-16th August, with a ship date in September.

-August/september they are selling a box set for around £50. (@$70 USD)

-It is a completely stand alone set that is not related to any race.

-It is something that GW has never done before.

-Some local stores are only getting one shipment; when that sells out it will no longer be available.

-You can't advance order it. You have to be there on the day to get it.

-It is not Planetary Empires.

-It is a board game.

-Very limited GW people know what it is. Blueshirts have indicated what they know and the Blackshirts avoid questions.

-Likely to be 40K related, but not definitely confirmed."

What could it be??

The crazy part is, its an announcment in august. So its available in september.

Hint: GD Germany 16th august. GW said "we present the highlight of the year". Possible mystery box opened?

I dont thin it will be space hulk. They know they can make decent money from that so why do a limited run.

It'll be a limited edition model maybe.

Maybe its a limited run of the old Space Hulk set as a collectors boxset? i know a few people whod still buy that.

One missing hint:

-possible to print something about the product on T-shirts.

Would that help?

Can't imagine any good "one time production run", i believe there are some mistakes in those hints.

Splash release minis could be a limited product. Or a thunderhawk. Maybe a set of characters from BL novels.

But a game?

At least you need someone to play. How should a "limited" game provide you with interested opponents?

So maybe its more a "limited edition" release, later followed by a standard edition.

Don't listen to BOLS, we blueshirts know sod all just like the rest of you. Not even the Blackshirts will know for sure until the "Black Box" is released.

Anything they tell you currently is LIES!

Has GW some chinese " copy fast and crappy" company at their heels?

If not, there is no reason for secrecy. And no chance since we will find out anyhow.

But if we dont find out, we may also decide to lack enjoyment and keep our money......

Its still not a bad idea to spread some rumors. On the other hand, a mystery box can turn against you if you raise too
many expectations and fail to deliver then something worth waiting for.

Was this mystery box anywhere showed? ( GW ! not interweb ).

the idea of eleasing a mystery box isn't new, and well its doing exactly what its supposed to.

after all this is a thread discussing what it could be, and so people get their hopes, people talk about it and before you know it has a buzz about it, which can lead to bigger sales, or everyone being dissapointed.

on a wider scale i don't think GW has much to lose about letting go of some rumours, and they do at each gamesday etc so i think it is a we are charging you for the rules and the fluff so we better not give too much of it away, otherwise one of their main sellers army books and codices would be obsolete

The unknown SH mys(t)ery...

So, first we had just a t-shirt with a termie and a quote for nids....
Then, i found out they may have a trailer running at 1600, which means most visitors are already gone then...

Can't be bothered to miss my train home ( and they didnt even announce the trailer ), so sorry, nothing seen.

Makes me wonder why the HQ ( as said somewhere ) stopped the "highlight of the year" ?
Heard the trailer has some BA and a genestealer.

Plus we will be informed per newsletter ....

May i suggest someone should stick this product where the sun never shines

'ere we go Space Hulk confirmed.
Can't help but feel its a bit BA specific I mean the original had BAs and DAs and any other marines really. Models look good though.
