I am currently doing some Sternguards for my army. I have so far assembled 6 models and painted 3 of them.
My Sternguard scheme is no different than my other squads. The only differences are that they are all bald and wears no helms.

They are a proud bunch, prefering to fight the enemy face to face, and so threw away their helmets so that the enemy can see the faces of their killers. They have been sellected from various squads in the company. Some are survivors of many battles, some are the only survivors of their former squads be it Tactical or Devastators, and still wears their squad markings on ther shoulder plate in honour of their former comrade (dead or alive).

This guy here is Sargeant Sam "The Bull" Erwin. He wields Powerfist and a Combi-melta. He is the only remaining true Sternguard of this company.

Next is a Veteran with Combi-melta. He once served the Company's 1st Tactical Squad. He still wears his Tactical Squad markings to battle.

Image

The 3rd one is also a Veteran with combi-melta. He bears the 2nd Tactical Squad markings.

The other 3 will be posted as soon as they're painted.
My aim is to have a full squad of 10 man. But that is for later i guess.

C&C is welcomed..

I think they all look very cool and I think you paint skin very well (I can't do that at all)

I want to do something similar but with the veteran colors, and having the skin a grey/white with black eyes... I was reading one fluff that says that older Raven Guard turn that way.

Awesome stuff though

Very very nice work. Details look great with excellent posing in each.

Really like the fluff too that you have created for them.

Cool base work too, just all round good. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the squad.

I believe the running legs are Khorne Beserker Legs (Maybe I'm wrong)

I never did get an answer on that myself, I decided that in mini's eye color is hard to represent so to make my guys stand out I'm going to use all black eyes and pale skin.

This is what i found in the Lexicanum.

Eventually each Marine's skin becomes pure white while their hair and eyes darken, becoming black as coal

i've tried painting like that before but didn't like how they look. So i opened the Codex and just follow the example in there
--> normal skin tones.

Bull's eyes!! :)
I collect full army of Berserkers and have lots of spare bits and pieces. I find that they are very appropriate for Sternguard. They do give nice pose to my Sternguards.

My brother ask me to paint his Biker Nobz for a coming tournament. So i wont be able to do this as fast as i thought. But niway.. i manage to assemble another Marine for my Sternguard. So i already have 7 in total.

Here are some updates:
The Bull and 2 finished Vets

4 more to go

Currently painting..

This guy had served in a Command squad of 4 Captains. Each end every time, he was the only one that came back alive. Thus the reason for him to be named "The Reaper". No Captains ever dare to take him under his Command Squad anymore. he now served in this Sternguard Squad. May the Emperor bless them all.

Have fun.. :)

Yeah I agree its not going to be easy to paint that way, but I want to use the fluff for them! (Which is why most of my vets don't have heads at the moment so I can paint, strip paint strip until I get something I like and glue it on)

When I looked in the space marine codex I saw a bunch of what I personally thought were mistakes on how they painted RG, I think that the 'eavy Metal team didn't read enough fluff... but that doesn't surprise me because RG doesn't get enough support, no decals etc.

But the Salamander captain had their fluff (Black skin with red eyes) stupid Sallies!

BTW I love how you have added fluff to your army... that's something I would do if I could come up with names etc.

I REALLY love this guys, an awesome unit with superb converting, posing and painting.

Poor GW, I dont think many people have bought the models! 90% of sterns I have seen have been conversions. Same for Vanguard.

Don't get us started on the eavy metal team stuff..seriously! ;)

Without a doubt to me Reaper is your best guy in this squad.

I really like how clean your whites are (Something I cannot do... because I always need to do a wash of Badab at the end.)

Your Chapter badges seem very well done (Whough hard to see) but they are the most important part of RG.

I've assembled the 2nd of the Arson Brothers but dont have the picture of him yet.

Won't be updating this for a few weeks. Got a large scale apoc game in 2 weeks time and both my Brass Scorpions are still not yet painted.

The call of the Blood God is hard to resist, so no RG for a while.

Till then.. have a nice day :)
