After some questions regarding a picture of my whole raven gaurd army I took a pic today. i had to take it with my cell phone so the picture quality is not the best. but i think, that you can catch all important things :)

Image

the whirlwind is modular and can serve as a razorback, or rhino too. the razorback could be a rhino if i need one.
at the moment I'm starting painting my third tactical squad and will be painting my first vindicator as soon as the mail order will arrive here :)

Very cool!
The quality is pretty good for a mobile phone, could you take some pics of each unit? (pretty please)

I've modularised a whirlwind that I got for christmas and will do so with all my tanks, do you mag them or just rest the "top plates" on?

I really should do some more painting, but my speed is rather glacial, I'm always procrastinating or the girlfriend always wants something just as I've got myself set up.

Look forward to more pics..... :)

Nice work hagg, i'm a big fan of your stuff :)

Love the tanks that can change their dudds too, I need to jump on that band wagon with some magnets.

It's rare you get 2 full man dev squads in a RG force, I like it.

It would be awesome to combine forces in a huge apoc game. We have some great painted armies around here.

hehe, could you imagine the confusion in the after math of a giant SoC vs [who ever] apoc game??? we'd probably spend just as much time figuring out who's minis were who's as we did playing the game (guess we'd have to make sure and mark the bases somehow for quick IDing :D)

only the speeder is magnetised and can choose from all 4 weapons :)
the top plates of the rhinos are changeable and all the hatches too, i see no point in magnetising something that gravity holds in place :P

i f you count the squads you will see, that i need 40 tactical marines to complete the 5th company, and i'm working to complete it as my third tactical squad is in the painting stage and the forth squad is bought and will be painted as soon as possible. of course i have to paint three drop pods and a dread between the missing tactical squads as they are far more important for gaming purposes as a fifth tactical squad.

it would sure be fun to have an all forum apocalypse match, and the opponent would have to deal with the fury of the whole raven guard chapter (and maybe 20 incarnations of shrike) but i dont think that it would be difficult to identify the own minis, as everybody here has an pretty unice paintstyle and an own interpretation of the raven guard squad and company markings.

tobe honest, the second dev squad (the plasma/heavy bolter one) has participated in one game since it was finished. and i have it more to complete my company than to use it in a game. maybe i just have to play larger games, so that i can use both of my dev squads.

thanks for all the nice comments...

It would be awesome to behold. We should get some pics on here of ravens in apoc.

I would do the all the 8th but i'd never be able to field everything unless my opponent lets me have triple the fast attack slots :)

We all get those units that just become bench warmers. My dread has been dormant for some time and my devs only come out to play during bug season.

Thought about the Hexperax campaign?

you could easyly do the 8th using the BA Codex (ok you dont get the tenth assault squad, but when using 9 squads it would be an apoc game...

i thought about the campain, but im very bad at battle reports as english is not my favorite language (i'm happy that im able to conversate in german :)) i may partizipate in the campaign after i reached a level of my army project in wich i can play a raven guard army that is competitive and fluffy, but that is a few drop pods and some other units away at the moment.

the other point is, that im happy when i have the few minutes to post or take a short look at the forums, but i rarely have the time to make a longer post.

These look really sharp, thanks for sharing. Very nice.

I'd love to see close up shots of the individual units if you have time.

When you refer to building the 5th or 8th company out, are you referring to the 5th and 8th companies as they are detailed out (per Ultramarines) in the SM Codex, or is there some other resource that lists out the Captains of each of the RG companies and their squad composition?

I know Shrike has the 3rd and Aajz has the 2nd. Other than that, is there any more up-to-date GW fluff on the Raven Guard?

No thats about it!

There is little info until GW does a major novel or gives us more spotlight in a Index Astartes or something. They did introduce a new sgt kinda in the codex with a quote. Sgt Kestrel I think. So as we have little to go on, and we are in the codex, we're basing the 5th and the 8th on that. But its not set in stone.

I picked the 8th because when I joined the forum it was the only one not in use. People like the 2nd 3rd etc, the battle companys. I wanted to build from a company that strives for glory and has the luxury of lots of fast attack. With a chapter style such has ours, the 8th would see a lot of service. As it does ;)

the weapon loadout of some squads has changes since i made the photos, but that are just some minor adjustments. i hope you like all the pics :)

i aim for the 5th company as detailed out in the index astartes, it is written, that the raven guard does follow the index very close in squad composition but differs in squad use. you can be sure that a raven guard battle company has 60 tactical, 20 assault and 20 devastator marines plus all that transprots, one or two dreads and some other vehicles.

they are all very nicely painted minis :D

though i have read somewheres online... i think it was the librarium of B&C that the codex (the UM written book, not our guide) allows for any combination of marines within a battle company, so long as the total doesnt exceed the number of tac squads in the same company...

if we use that logic, its possible that a RG battle company has, for intsance, 3 assault squads, but only 1 dev squad. ;)

its just one take on the whole thing, and worth about 2 cents

Very Nice!

Where were you when we had the painting comp?!

Really nice work and praise well deserved for the hours put into them. A fine army you should rightly be proud of!

They are pretty much codex perfect too. I admire that but it's not for me. Too much of a rebelious creative type to be told what to do ;)

I'm sure I won't be the last to say this, but this army looks amazing! Keep up the good work! You've inspired me to get back to the painting desk!
