Right ok, the master of the forge as covered by clean rabbit in his excellent tactica, made me think (with a little hinting from CR)

what does a conversion beamer look like?

The majority of the pics came up with spome pretty old minis like this

Image

so i used this as the basis of my design but, i wanted to keep it as simple as possible by using bits readily available. (plan got scuppered in the end with a bit of greenstuff work but i'm sure theirs othe ways around it.

anyways sorry if the pics are blurry but this is just a alpha concept model.

Parts listed in italics are optional to the build. i.e i used it, but you could use any part you think is suitable.

Imperial guard Autocanon ammo hopper
Imperial guard heavy weapon heavy bolter
SM drop pod central column control panel
SM drop pod power linkage for seat harness.
Tau Crisis battlesuit shield generator.
SM Melta bomb (preferably the one with the side handle)
SM Dreadnaught Heavy flamer
Eldar Heavy weapon missile launcher

SM Techmarine (from the thunderfire canon)
SM Techmarine flamer servo arm (from the thunderfire canon)

I like it!

It's one of those crazy mad-inventor guns. That probably fires in a rainbow of pyrotechnics. maybe you need to cackle a bit when you fire it mate ;)

Look forward to seeing him with a splash of paint!

Right ok will order the bits and start work on the tutorial.

Anyone got ideas what i could change the green stuff funnel at the end with? ...

never mind just got an oddball idea :D:D:D

I couldn't make it the same as the old one which was a shame, (stupid eldar weapons being skinny)

Heres a little background taken from my obssession with ace combat, the funnel at the front of the weapon is designed to look like that of a jet engine, which when powered up and you look at it, spurts out unconcentrated power at the tip of the funnel (so less focused the closer it is to the engine) but the further away you go (about 3 meters) all the power combines into a single point. Pretty much whats is happening with the conversion beamer.

End of physics lesson

why not just save the $ and take the old one apart/just write up a verbal summary?

or at the most, just paint and toss a circle or # around a part, then tell what it was - repeat untill youve labeled all the parts :P

Tutorial: Conversion Beamer

Now the conversion Beamer was first seen in Rogue Trader and has now came back in the 5th edition Space Marine codex, due to the Master of the Forge. The Conversion Beamer is a truely unique weapon, but there is no model for it, so how do you create a Conversion Beamer? Thats hopefully what this tutorial is all about.

Hopefully this video will teach you all you need to know, Have a look at it, to get the feel of what you do, and then you can pause or skip bits when you get round to doing it.

I'll Write up a text and image tutorial as well and post that up!

Thanks guys, but you really have CR to thank, if it wasn't for his tactica none of this would have happened.

Theres a cool example of a conversion beamer on the GW website in one of the staff blogs. Basically, someone gave a Techmarine a Plasma Cannon and stuck the prongs of the servo arm to the end of it.
