Just a few guidelines to help us all get the most out of posting an army list. It can be a bit random and vague, with wild suggestions to genuine help. Before you post, or indeed comment then just take a look at the few points. They will benefit all involved.

POSTING

> New tactic/show off or help needed.
We need to know why you are posting. It could be that you have a new tactic, or you just need to devise a list to take down a specific player. Either way we need to know why. If you need a generic list then say…and be prepared for the crazy answers.

> What models you have access to or if you are open to purchase whats needed.
It helps if we know what you have in your collection or can borrow from a mate. Just a rough guideline, other wise we will suggest 2 thunderhawks from forge world. Tell us if you plan to expand or would just like to work with what you have right now.

> Your preferred style of play.
Again, this helps us and you. If you play fast and like speeders then it stops us telling you to buy tanks etc. It gives us a guidline with our suggestions. It wont prevent us giving alternate tactics, but at leats we are aware of what you like.

> Detail
When listing you don’t need to detail everthing. We know marines get frag grenades. But also make it so we know. We cant instantly see that mcpf is ‘master crafted power fist’ Find the balance. It will make it easier to read and more likely get a response.

COMMENTING

> Read the post
Simple I know, but I am amazed how many times I see random answers from people who have just read the title. If people take the time to type out their lists then show a sensible answer.

> Keep your answers relevant to the post/list/problem
If the poster has done his job then you will have the guidelines you need to supply tactical insight and genius list management. Don’t just post what comes into your head.

> Their style & your style
We all play in a different way. If the poster is open to new tactics then fine. If he likes pods then don’t keep suggesting rhinos.

> Cost and supply
Be real with your suggestions. Again, if the poster has done their job then you will know what you have to work with and what they have access to. Try and give helpful answers. If the poster says they have currency to burn then fine. 3 LRCS might do the trick. Give constructive help where you can.

Enjoy, and happy posting.

Good job, Lev.

Just let me add:

detail:

its useful to know:
-the size of the unit
-the upgrades ( weapons for IC or SGT, special weapon, heavy weapon ).
-transport Y/N, which.
-vehicle upgrades
-psychic powers
-exchangable basic wargear ( scouts )

Another point:

Understandable abbrevations if any.

examples:

ASM
Tac-squad
Dev-squad
LR, LRC

Most people and forums know these.

Or weapons:

MM = fine
ML = fine
PC = should read plasma cannon, needs to be spelled
LC = should read las-cannon, needs to be spelled
HB = fine
HF = fine
AC = should read autocannon/could be read as assaultcannon too.

Not so easy, so maybe keep those readable. :wink:

Great thread!

I'd also add:

Be prepared for criticism! So often on other forums have a seen people post a list, people pull the list apart, then the original poster get all angry about it.

If you post a list, be prepared for what people actually think!
