Hexperax Crusade background

000 M42

The Hexperax system was heavily colonised before the beginning of the Great Crusade. It lies between the borders of the Ultima and Tempestus segmentum. During the Age of strife the system was isolated like many others, threatened by aliens during this time and constantly under threat. The human colonist societies, against all odds, managed to flourish, rapidly developing dominion over the area shortly after their liberation. The liberation of the system was performed by the Word Bearers legion and during the Horus heresy the system was laden with heretics taking the side of the Warmaster, But their were some who refused the gifts of chaos and some citizens remained loyal to the Emperor. Bitter civil war broke out through their hatred off each other, soon the war spread, turning brother against brother.

The end of the Heresy brought the Great Scouring and the system was cleansed with a number of worlds liberated by loyalist forces. All was not well however as the surrounding area became overrun with the retreating traitors. The loyalists held the system to a stalemate. That was until the storm came.

The Warpstorm, said to be brought forth by evil sorcerers’, enveloped the system isolating it from Imperial aid and rule for over 10,000 years. The system entered legend and left little record in the Imperial archives. The Astopathic choir has recently however detected the collapse of the storm and the adeptus terra has sent ecclesiarchy adepts to the system to reintroduce imperial rule. Only one returned to report that one of the worlds was still loyal.

Therefore it was by mandate of the Emperor or more over his inquisition that a crusade should re-take the system. But 10,000 years has changed much in this godless system, now only a pious to decadent and corrupt and with only one world loyal to stage the crusade from. The odds are against the Imperium who fights to return its rule and the Adeptus mechanicus who are searching for STCs. The system has fallen pray to alien threats as well. The Dark Eldar raid and attack from a webway gate on a regular basis with no known motive, as Ork Waaaghs form nearby and have been a constant threat. The Elder have also moved forces towards the system, drawn by an ancient energy. The soon arrival of a splinter Hive fleet has not helped matters in the slightest.

Known worlds of the Hexperax system:

Hexperax – Named after the imperial hero who reclaimed the system during the Great Scouring. It is a shadow of its former self however as heretics have corrupted this verdant world with their feet on its soil.

Ansul – Was once a great industrial producer but the overproduction has turned the surface into ash and splintered the very earth in many places. It is now inhospitable, to normal life.

Evora – Evora is a world coated with ice and snow. It also has vast oceans and its land mass is restricted to barren rock and ice flows.

Akrinia – A surprisingly fertile land with plenty of prospect for a thriving agricultural future. Heavy infrastructure has been based around a central point on the planets equator leaving the surroundings as lush green fields and forests.

Klexis- A desert world by the most part, over 85% of the surface is made up from shifting sand dunes. Little water and vegetation are present but form localised areas of lush forests and wildlife at the waters edge.

Haelic- An urban centre during the great crusade, as the rapid increase of population brought with it a massive amount of industrial action and civilian habitats. The cities lie in ruin, as nature has retaken part of the world. Expect urban fighting in the ruins as well as ambushes both inside the ruins and on the flat lands leading towards the industrial outposts.

Laconia- A planet totally covered in jungle and marsh land. The remains of one of the ecclesiarchy ships has been located on this world

Rabe Welt- A planet with a surprisingly low gravitational field for its size, the electromagnetic core though is almost twice as powerful as a planet of similar displacement. This landscape has been scared by many impact craters from asteroids, containing iron ferrite, and this hard metal remains scattered across the land.

Polsul (Industrialised moon)- Polsul is the only loyalist world left in the system and even then is still in the midst of civil war. It is the staging area for the entire crusade.

P.S. These worlds are only the "known" worlds 2 reasons for this is that the warpstorm still has some influence and hasn't completely subsided while the other is missing from imperial records so this leaves it open for people to invent their own worlds and enjoy.

Very nice :D , I just have one thing to pick out... if the planet they are going to use as their starging is in Civil War, surely they would stabilise the situation there first?

Indeed, what better force to pacify a rebellion than the Raven Guard? :)
