hey, I just registered on here. Im Josh, a.k.a. Shadow Captain. Its good to meet fellow Raven Guard, rather than players of other chapters who usually seem to regard me with curiosity and amusement...

Although I've been playing 40K for a year now (and LoTR SBG for 5 years), I've always had trouble finding the time (and money) as my only access to other gamers (other than one unreliable and hermit like friend who lives close by) was a tiny GW store a 45 min bus journey away. Now however, I have started a course and moved into accommodations at the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough (in the north east of England), and I have joined the gaming club there, so I will be able to play much more often.


As I havn't found much time to play, its been hard to stay motivated, and my painting has been neglected. So finishing painting my army will be the first item on my to do list.

I am also hoping to start a Shrike's Wing Vanguard Squad, all armed with dual LCs. A good start I think will be the Assault Terminators box set - I'll keep the claws, then sell the rest of the box to a newbie (to 40K) in my club who's collecting Black Templars.

also, is there anyway to change your username? I was going to add a name after Shadow-Captain but I forgot. Maybe the admins can do it?

Well maybe you could re-create a new account ? It's not like you have a huge post history there

I have made some progress on my army. I finished my Shrikes Wing, using bitz from the Assault Termies box (the Lightnin claws); the Assault Marines box; and the Dark Angels Veterans box. I will post pictures when I find a decent camera to use (and learn how to use it).

I got the DA Veterans box mainly for the robes. I want my Shrike's Wing to look as though they have been operating behind enemy lines, hence using robes to disguise themselves somewhat (using the description of an Alpha Legion infiltration squad from the HH book Legion).

I also picked up my first Drop Pod today. Hopefully my army will be fully painted by the time I return to University after Xmas. When I find the time (in between completing a late Applied Science assignment, Empire Total War and Xbox Live) I'll post a few army lists.
