Hello and i must say this site is amazing.

I started my warhammer 40k career about six years ago by getting about 1000 points of Tau, of all things, and liked the mobile play style. I then sold my small army and got out of the game.

Now I am thinking of getting back in, except I do not want to be Tau. Made of paper, see? I spent most of that 2 year career losing, and my last match was against (dramatic pause) the Raven Guard! After having two dreadnoughts deep strike and assault cannon my ethereal for the hundredth time, I gave up. Now I come back and decide to play space marine because I want something tougher, much tougher. Lo and behold, Raven Guard have an extremely similar style of play! I like the fast mobile ways of combat, hitting the big stuff where it hurts. I hate close combat, but with raven guard I can dance around about as well as I could with Tau. Basically the more I see of the Raven Guard the more I want to play as them. But I still like the Salamander way of using lots of fire. Solution: Give the Raven guard some flame weapons. I want to make a Successor chapter with a lava-raven theme. Magma Ravens was the best one I came up with. A space marine army with a focus on scouts with snipers (coincidentally better than fire warriors), some flame weapons (combi-flamers and a Land Raider Incinerator Ultra, for those swarm armies), and some heavy hitting things (dreads and a chapter master with an elite snipe squad).

I have a basic idea for an army list, but the fluff says the chapter started small and had to earn wargear so there are some blood angels and salamander tools, but still used raven guard tactics. I will post an army list in the appropriate place so you all can comment. Glad to be among the servants of the emperor for the first time.
