I've ben struggling with this for along time now. And I know upon reading it seems obvious but I'm hoping someone has found a loophole.

When the new chaos daemons codex arrived the first thing I noticed was that EVERY SINGLE model in the entire army is an eternal warrior. This means that they are immune to instant death. The rulebook is very clear on this, the rulebook is also very clear on the fact the models that are immune to instant death are not affected by the force weapon psychic power.

Is it just me or has the new chaos daemons codex completly nullifiedthe point of force weapons? Because I know that all I used them for was to take out greater daemons. I mean sure you can still take out that chaos lord, but you can beat him without the force weapon after all he doesn't have the T6/7 and W4/5 that makes force weapons a necessity.

Please someone find me a loophole!

I have found one possible way out that just barely manages to make daemon hunters and only daemon hunters (raven guard are librarians are still useless) usable against daemons. Under their force weapon entry it says "slain outright" not "suffers instant death". I know they're effectively the same thing, but what do you guys think?

Well I find it normal than specific GW/Witch hunters force weapons work better than SM ones.
These are dedicated anti-Daemons, and should perform better than 'classic' force weapon.

You can still use it to kill warboss and such, but it's a shadow of what it was before.

Still, against Daemons, you have Null Zone, which hurts badly this army.

Depends on how far you want to push it - GK Force Weapons do indeed slay outright - by RAW this is NOT instant death. In a friendly, I wouldn't push this at all, tournament then probably yes.

I think Alderbaran hit this nail perfectly.

Sure, force weapons are very limited on what they can do against daemons, which does suck, but what we do have is nullzone, which makes regular power weapons far more effective! Simply thrown down null zone before assaulting with those LC termies or massed Lascannon spam and watch the GD fall.

I'm a fan of the fluff for librarians and I'd have expected their Force Weapon to be a dedicated daemon killing machine in its own right, but now we've got to use the other tools at our disposal, which are both better and worse in different ways.

I'd go with MR's oppinion on GK Force Weapons too - just so you know ;)

We are now up against live, hostile targets. So, if Little Red Riding Hood should show up with a bazooka and a bad attitude, I expect you to chin the b!tch.

My missus says I've got the mental age of my unborn baby girl, but what does she know?

Force weapons do NOT cause instant death.

Hi mwyvill, you might want to re-read the entry on page 50 for force weapons.

The weapon convers one extra psychic ability to the user which must be rolled as normal. If the psychic test is passed, it causes instant death. Bad news, itis effects do not work on models that are immune to instant death.

It's written like that in the entry bud, so sorry, it does cause instant death, and models immune to it are not effected by the psychic power.

I too wish it was otherwise.
