Elisius – The lost planet

Named after Inquisitor Elisius, and believed to hold his final resting place.

Forested greenland areas to the north
Desert areas occupying large areas of the west and along its equator
Hive Vul covers a massive part of the east – abandoned before the warp storms

Elisius was a retreat to the wealthy and the elite. Largely unknown to all but a privileged few. All it’s records are tied up by inquisition red tape and its population unknown.

Its defense system was created to be impenetrable, and a high security bunker system is believed to be located some where.

It’s defenses now lie dormant and its surface inhabited by aliens and traitors alike. Hive Vul is mostly decimated by the impact of an ork vessel.

Several imperial forces report attempts to reclaim it. There are also reports of a scattered defense force, but no communication has been made.

Force Levitas has asumed orbit, with a drop site secured after a brief battle with orks. (bat rep to follow)

Elisius battle 1– vs Orks

1500pts – Seize ground – pitched battle – Outpost with few fortified structures & rocks but generally a desert– cover medium

Force Levitas
Captain levitas

10 man Assault Titus(Sgt with single PF)
10 man Assault Rokh(Sgt with single TH)

10 man Tactical Siris (Sgt with p.sword & combi plas, Lascannon, Melta gun) - Rhino
10 man Tactical Immotus (Sgt with p.sword & combi melt), Lascannon, plasma) -Rhino
5 man Scouts (Bolters, hvy bolter)

2 Vindicators

Speed freek Orks
Warboss & nobs in truck

3 truck boys with tooled up trucks (wrecker, ramshackle, planks)
2 bike boys squads
3 Kopters

large looter mob

A decent game and my first in 5th against the orks. Speed freak orks have always appealed to me, and boy were they fast.

I aimed for 3 of the 5 objectives. The heavy combat squads of my tacs sat in a bunker sitting on one. The other halves would surge forward in their rhinos on turn 3-ish. One assault squad sat with the tacs and would counter, the two vindis sat either side of the bunker. Levitas flanked with the other assault.

Wow, turbo boost. The bikers screamed forward as did the trucks. I’d have one turn of shooting. But it was a calculated turn and I chose my targets well. The bike squads just went away. Vindication followed by assault squad Titus. While tac squad Rokh rapid fired one into oblivion.

Still, the trucks came and a very ugly combat erupted by my home bunker. The warboss and his nobs took on squad Titus and tac squad siris. My scouts were taken out on the flank by a truck mob. Levitas and his flanking assault refused to arrive.

The lootas firing was nasty, taking out most of the heavy tacs and leaving a lone lascannon, who was enjoying his day popping trucks. The ork coppters took the big gun off a vindi, but I had two so continued to enjoy pie plates. The looters would get in when a single pie plate killed all but 2.

As I prepared the coupe de grace with the arriving Levitas the game ended. The guy had to go. I was nice and suggested a draw. I held 1 objective and he pretty much had one. But he had nothing left to stop me claiming a third. Still, I showed sportsman ship.

draw – 1 objectives to 1 (3 unclaimed)

Game ratings!
Fun: 8/10 A good game, shame it ended early,

My opponent: 7/10 A nice guy who was proxying trucks and nothing was painted. Still, I liked the mix of his list. Pretty new to the game, and probably would have tested me a lot more with experience.

Perfect plan: 9/10 Pretty much, although expecting my scouts to hold a objective far away from the rest of the force wasn’t smart. Flanking Levitas probably wasn’t genius either has he and his squad never made it into combat. But the guy had to go just as they were about to charge and finish off his force.

Best overall unit: Assault squad Titus took out a whole a biker squad and then all but wiped out the warboss and nobz. Titus himself smacking the warboss out the game with his fist.

Most damaging enemy unit: Looters. Who ever tells you orks cant shoot obviously hasn’t faced these guys. They are a pain when the rest of the orks tie you up in combat and threaten charges. Leaving them free to rain down the pain.

Firing blanks: Levitas and flanking assault squad. But to be fair they were about to make their mark. Had they turned up before the turn 4 end game I could have won earlier.

Elisius battle 2– vs Deathwing

1500pts – Anihilation – pitched battle – Outpost with centralised fortified structures & rocks but generally a desert– cover medium

Force Levitas
Captain levitas
Chaplain Renatus

5 man Vanguard Tempestus (Sgt with single Powersword, 2 x power sword 2 x storm shield)
10 man Assault Rokh(Sgt with single TH)

10 man Tactical Siris (Sgt with p.sword & combi plas, Lascannon, Melta gun) - Rhino
10 man Tactical Immotus (Sgt with p.sword & combi melt), Lascannon, plasma) -Rhino

2 Vindicators

Deathwing
Belial
Librarian

5 x five man terminator squads (sgts with chainfists, cyclones and METAMORPHIC KOALA! cannons)

It went well. Very well.

Levitus and the Vanguard infiltrated then got a first turn wipeout on one squad, the Captain inflicting all five wounds on the sad librarian. While the other got shot at by a vindi. Killing 2.

His first turn saw the deathwing teleport in with 3 squads, spaced out and pretty much surrounding me. But they were spaced out…alone, vulnerable. Stupid.

The 2 vindis opened up with double pie plate fun, turning termies into mush. Levitus and the Vanguard then fleeted their way to a second squad, wiping them out too. Chaplain Renatus took the assault squad to combat Belial, their return fire taking out half the squad.

Cyclones tried to take out the tanks rear armour but the guy rolled so bad. I then unloaded both tac squads and rapid fired. That’s 20 tacs (2 meltaguns, 4 plasma, lots of bolters) into five termies. 1 died. The 4 remaining then assaulted tac squad Rokh and forced them to flee of the table.

The squad that wiped out my tacs felt the love of both Vindicators and went away in a red mist. The combat between belial and the Chaplain was fierce, ending with everyone down.

He had 3 termies left, who charged a vindi with a chainfist, but failed to dent it, only stunning. Their reward was dealing with Levitus and the vanguard. It was a wipe out as Sgt tempsetus downed the last of the Dark Angeld elite.

Win – Total wipe out

Game ratings!
Fun: 9/10 Enjoyable,very.

My opponent: 6/10 had no clue how to use Deathwing and got a spanking. He Said things would have been different had he known Shrikes rules. I think not so much.

Perfect plan: 9/10 I had no plan, if he bunched them up I’d have a tough time, but he spread them out and deepstruck half. I just reacted and rolled well for the pie plates and power weapons.

Best overall unit: Captain Levitus , Vanguard, and Vindicators. Just made a mockery of their armour and shined.

Most damaging enemy unit: none, they all just rolled over.

Firing blanks: Tac squad Immotus. Not only did their rapid fire do nothing, they then rolled over when the termies charged. The usually legendary sgt rolling snake eyes to hit with his power sword. They ran away.

some brilliant fights my friend especially like the one v deathwing, thats an army that a player should want to focus as much as you can to get the best punch, sum of two parts etc etc but you dealt with it admirably and his mistake proved costly, except for those tacs who killed 1 termy :D but alas those fickle dice gods are sooo.....fickle :P

Saying he didn't know shrikes rules is a bit lame i mean i know im biased but its smack bang in the space marine codex and maybe its just me but i do actually like reading other codices. (hence the three/four 40k armies i'm working on :( :P)

Elisius battle 3– vs Mech Guard

1500pts – Take & Hold – pitched battle – Ruined cityscape with various multi level ruins – cover heavy

Force Levitas
Captain levitas

10 man Assault Rokh(Sgt with single TH)
10 man Assault Titus(Sgt with single PF)

10 man Tactical Siris (Sgt with p.sword & combi plas, Lascannon, Melta gun) - Rhino
10 man Tactical Immotus (Sgt with p.sword & combi melt), Lascannon, plasma) –razorback with las
5 man Scout squad Fortune (sgt with sniper & melta bombs) scouts with bolters

2 Vindicators

Mech Guard
Inquisitor with mystics and average retinue in rhino

4 squads in chimeras

2 lemans

So, mech guard. He set up bunched up around his objective while I stuck in cover and left my objective on its own (yes, I had a plan) Levitas and the TH assault squad infiltrated ready to target a russ. My vindicators were far forward and in cover while my scouts deployed close to the second russ (ready to try the new tank bash tactic)

He had first turn which usually unsettles me. I’d not placed the infiltrated squad well enough and he got a crafty line of sight with a russ. The pie plate taking out 2 unfortunate jumpers. The second russ scattered. His line backed up and the troops inside dismounted from their transports.

My turn and levitas burst from cover and scrambled over the russ, his rending claws causing it to explode and killing another assault marine and two guard in the blast. Still, that’d be the end of his pie plates.

In a rush of excitement my scouts were poised to scramble over the second one and melta bomb it. Then a lance of light from a tac squad lit up the tank, exploding it. Oh, I thought as the scouts waited to be rapid fired next turn by a full squad of guard. The razor back also hit home and stunned a chimera. Assault squad Titus had split. One squad rushing to support Captain levitas next turn while the second homed in on the inquisitor.

With the big guns out the guard turned to their hell guns. A storm of fire ripped through assault squad Rokh and left only the Captain on one wound. I knew this, but taking out the leman was worth it. I figured Levitas would survive and squad titus was one turn from support. The rest of the guard burst forward to take their objective and try a melta shot at a vindi, which hissed wide. The scouts were rapid fired by the Inquisitor and his retinue, wiped out in one turn.

The vindis had got into position, both enjoying cover and a decent arc of fire through the ruins. Captain levitas was joined by a combat squad from assault squad Titus and proceeded to wipe out a squad of guard in combat. Payback stings huh. The other squad of Titus powered into the Inquisitor, wounding him and downing a few of his cronies. The fearless fool refused to run and so stayed in combat. The vindis open up by exploding a chimera with a sweet hit, the other one taking out 3 guard around the objective. At this point I had actually started to leg a combat squad towards my unguarded objective. The razor back continued to shine and lit up a chimera.

His turn consisted of some rapid fire shenanigans and a guard squad charging in to recuse the Inquisitor. It didn’t work and he died in combat.

The tacs arrived and began to rapid fire and assault respectively, taking out a whole heap of guard. At this point it was pretty much over and my opponent conceded the game about turn 4.

Win – 2 objectives to 0

Game ratings!
Fun: 8/10 Pretty good

My opponent: 8/10 Very much building his force and waiting for the new dex. Showed some excellent conversion work and is really passionate about his army. A joy to play, but did get bored when he figured he couldn’t win. As would anyone.

Perfect plan: 8/10 I took the lemans out efficiently and closed quickly to deny mobility. I was lucky that every lascannon shot hit and actually did damage. Impressed with the first use of a razor back.

Best overall unit: hard to say, the razorback did well, but so did squad Titus and Captain Levitas

Most damaging enemy unit: Massed rapid fire from chimeras and hellguns whittled down a full assault squad in one turn. Nasty

Firing blanks: Scout squad Fortune. But to be fair they were poised to play their part as expendable tank hunters. Shame the tac with lascannon ignited their target leaving them looking a bit silly (and me!)

Heh sounds like you've been havin fun Lev.
Sorry about not congratulating you on creating Elisius been a bit busy.
Scouts always have been a problem for me mind thats probably only because I take them when I have a few points left.
Sounds like I'll have to watch out for Hellguns if I ever fight an army thats not Ork marine or tau.
Keep it up!

Cheers guys. I will do my best to get pics from the event. I also need to be on form as the raiders so far have the strongest players :/

Aldebaran, thank you. Glad you enjoyed them. My Vanguard do well when I deem them to be an intelligent selection for certain games & opponents. Right tool for the job.

Earthen, you know twin vindis is always double the fun mate. ;)

Thanks Sy, just doing my bit. Its safe to say that the Raven Guard have a good rep in my part of Texas.

This weekend June 13th sees the one day event/tournament. The 'Elisius Incident'

This will see the planet be taken or saved...and the probable withdrawl of the Raven Guard 8th from Hexperax. Captain Levitas will pursue a sworn enemy into the Harkonis system. But first duty awaits at the gates of Elisius.

1 day, 3 games, 2 teams of 5.

details here:

wow sounds like you have everything sorted, cant wait to see how it works out cause it sounds brilliant, the link between the master list and the three different points and seperate game types should be interesting.

Glad this idea has come to fruition though, and its a credit to you. Sorry for not getting behind this as much as i think i should have, and it'll be sad when the 8th leave the system, but well i guess "a mans gotta do..." :)

Good luck with the campaign and may the best side win :D
