Elisius Report
My store ran one of my ideas for a fluffy tournament. The basis that it was 3 games of differing size and objectives. But each list was drawn from a master list of 1750. Units could not be added or change equipment, but could shrink in size.

• Game 1 had no HQs and was 750pts - 3 set objectives
• Game 2 was full 1750pts - 1 central objective
• Game 3 was 1500pts doubles - apoc sized annihilation with 4 players

Split into 2 teams

Defenders of Elisius

Dark Angels
Imperial Guard
Eldar

Raiders from the Void

Chaos SM

D99 Drop Guard
Imperial Guard


Fluff wise, it would decide the fate of Elisius in the bigger SoC run Hexperax campaign. My Raven Guard set to the task...


GAME 1 vs Chaos Space Marines 750pts - 3 objectives - DOW

750pts - RAVEN GUARD – Recon Force Immotus

Probably the best game of the tournament. It was just so close, as it tipped almost every turn.

With 3 objectives we both controled one and it was always going to be about the 3rd central one. I set my tacs up to snipe at those vindis while the combat squads would surge forward in the rhinos once the pie plate threat was gone. Fortunately my tacs with lascannons were having a good day and silenced one big gun on turn 1, and stunned the other.

He swamped the central objective while his home CSM squad peppered long range plasma. Then the raptors burst out and fired two melta at my own vindi..he rolled a double 2 to hit. His reward was being charged by my assault squad and wiped out.

It looked like I was in for the win as both tacs moved forward into strong positions. Then he got his lucky turn. Tac squad Siris had their rhino exploded - the blast taking out no less than 4 of the combat squad, leaving only Sgt Siris. Then Tac squad Immotus got a pie plat right in the face after they fell back from a surprisingly unsuccessful assault.

Looked bad. But my assault squad and the lone sgt Siris took out the last vindi and charged the CSM squad on the central objective. My long range tac squads continued to cover fire and whittle down the numbers.

In the end I won as plasma and bolter fire failed to take down the lone Sgt Siris as he single handedly claimed the winning objective, Then to add insult my rhino steamed forward to contest his home objective. A thrilling win!

Close game. As in hairs width.

He would deep strike everything. So I set up in the usual anti DS way. Cover my rear and spacing out. It almost worked.

He managed to silence both vindis on turn one with DS melta hits, it stung and would hinder my chances. Those squads would get assaulted and mauled by my captains and jumpers. Then more squads arrived and threw demo charges into my jumpers, vastly whittling down my numbers.

And so it went. They would land, aim for my assaulters and then get taken out. He lost one unit to a mishap, and his regular GK were charged and taken out my multiple units. His trooops were hugging the central objective and the typhoon reaped a heavy toll, but it wasnt enough.

His GK termies landed and instantly proved a big hurdle. My assault squads had been taken down a lot. I threw both Captains and a handful of jumpers at them. I lost combat and Captain levitas fell. Only Captain Erro servived and he rallied right on the end of the board.

My rhinos pushed up while the scouts poured fire into his troops by the objective. Pinning the unit only. Then Captain Erro charged the GK termies again, this time firing first with plasma pistol and gren launcher. But GK termies are tough, and despite taking out 3 it still wasnt enough and he too fell in combat.

The game ended with the central objective contested. It went down to KP and it was still a draw!

Well it was messy.

I stole the initiative and we set about nuking their lines from above as my team mate rolled a 1 for the orbital. Tanks and defilers were obliterated while the vendettas set about silencing the vindis.

In return they opened up and barraged both my tac squads and a Vindi. Then HQs started tossing Vortex grenades about abd units on both sides began to disapear. A few poor guard units were lashed into a vortex for giggles. My own HQ was flanking while i opted to DS my assault squad (to avoid the carnage and templates)

The plasm-saurus opened up and just engulfed a DP. But the other two would wreak havoc on it and other allied tanks. My own tacsquad benifted from the order 'bring it down' and reduced a defiler to a weaponless hulk.

The psykers tore into the CSM squads, while the vendettas were brought down by mass fire. It was just so very apocolyptic.

Inquistor Garret on our side survived, while his nemisis Inqusiitor Colis escaped (lost in reserves)

Captain levitas arrived from the flank and was bestowed with furious charge, but was a quarter inch short of his target!

The game ended and we lost by a single KP.

TOURNY RESULTS

I finished 3rd


The allies lost by a single point. Elisius was lost, barely.

I cant believe it was so close, losing the final game by 1 killpoint and then the allies losing by a single point unlucky :D But alas the fate of a planet is not always a predetermined thing. sounds like you guys had a lot of fun though some of the battles sound almost cinematic in their events, and its always great to hear of those times when a single sergeant survives only to save the day. Really well done for organising it and i hope you all enhjoyed the experience.

Also congrats on coming 3rd sounds like you were up against some real tough opponents. so congrats to you.


now i'll play by Sy for a bit, What did you learn about the event and would you change anything?

Ha ha, well put Jasp. To be honest the door is open for someone to pick up the batton and take over on Elisius. Ripe for a good bit of fluff.

Game 1 was cinematic. Just picture a smoking sergeant Siris striding from the wrecked rhino on his own to fend of double tap plasma and save the day(his heroics actually secured my vortex grenade in game 3)

Game 3 was my first apoc (although small a 3k) It was just carnage. I was in awe of new guard. It just wasnt an RG game though, I had to keep my guys from template and lash doom so falnked and deep striked. This ment I twiddled thumbs a few turns.

Game 2 was a bit odd. Not a whole heap of fun but still very close.

I am very pleased with the master list system and would urge people to try it. It was just tons of fun and threw up and entirely different feel and atmosphere to the tourny.
