yeah thats along the lines of what i meant, i mean if we knew they were traitor then the whole battle would have panned out differently, i mean i think we'd press forward and try to crush fulgrims pounces, and then turn around and fight all the others, or just evacuate immediately.

but it was the fact we trusted them to be loyal, and the unknown heresy of these traitorus cowards, that was our demise :(

well, i know that there was the whole "we have more legions on the way to crush yours!" thing going on, but i mean, if you know your going to be fighting horus a a couple of his buddies, i'd probably drop pod down, wipe 'em out, and then stormbird/thunderhawk out at my leisure....

Its a bit hard to do with 3 legions watching out for that!!! but tbh i dont think it was that kind of battle, i think as the way horus lured us all in, i think it turned into an all out war of who can wipe out the other, not simply about killing a few select targets, and obviously the circumstances favoured all out war, unfortunatley it was in the traitors favour, but alas, we did not know :(

maybe that is why the raven guard preach so much about being silent and swift, and Not to be dragged into all out war! maybe it does show or come from a slight distrust?

well, as i figure it, we were pretty well known for behind enemy lines, stealth type actions before istvaan, but after the massacre, it was a necessity. we simply didnt have the numbers to field a sledgehammer army the way the infernal smurfs could.

and there's ALWAYS one thing i trust in my enemies... in real life as well..... they want to kill me, and so as a future RG commander, its prudent to know as much about the enemy as possible, and exploit any weaknesses presented to me :)

you gotta wonder 1 thing if 100,000 marines turned against the emporer how do they get new men because the imperium must have killed a least 50,000 over time

i know they get some from marines that go traitor but not that many marines go traitor

The traitors are down to 10k to 20k "notdeadastheyshould" today.
Its possible to recrut renegades = yes. Enough to refill losses = no.
Also to mind: geneseed of most traitor legions is mutated and not able to create new marines.

So GW and chaos fans pulled the is not dead but in the warp and will return trick to explain
where the traitors have the numbers to be a threat. But i think we must hurry to get our revenge
or they die out before.

While Corax may have wanted to bring his tactics to bear on Horus if he had done that then the Salamanders and the Iron Hands flank would have been wide open to attack. Plus he thought that the 4 other Legions were coming into support not mangle and destroy. Plus if he left the Iron hands and salamanders open to flank attack they might think that Corax went traitor.

Or maybe he was just pissed at Horus for pulling this.
