Alright Brothers, i've been approached by Eetion of The Serpent's Lair, an alpha legion forum and he's proposed that we have painting and fluff-writing competitions. I know that we are ever up to any challenge so i agreed. Concrete plans haven't been made, but i suggest we all prep up for these competitions...

So who here is a painter and who here is a writer? Who here is blessed enough to be both? Post here

Also please post your comments about the idea and if there is anything you'd like to suggest, i'm all ears :D

As for me, i'm a writer, not much of a painter.

No problem Jeff, i was actually going to PM you on 40kmalaysia, but you found the link first.

So, do we have any takers for painting/writing competitions? We can't let the sons of alpharius beat us by default!

Once forum traffic picks up, I definitely think this could promote a lot of good feelings between forums. Also helps with contributions, as the Raven Guard fluff/painted pics would be posted here, and the Alpha Legion there. Not a bad idea, but don't rush into it. Needs careful planning and a large userbase to really shine through.

I'm a bit of a writer, I'd try my hand at painting but I have no models to work on... 8)

What exactly would we be painting? A squad or just one model?

Well, this is kinda short notice, but since it's a month long competition, it should be alright

Alright gents! Time to get started with a new competition to iron out the boredom here. Do you have scores of unpainted models gathering dust? Are you lacking motivation to get your army finished?

Well, let's see if we can cure that.

This is going to be the first TFS painting competition! I know we've got some great painters out there, and probably plenty of people who want to get more involved with their armies. So! Each member of the site is allowed to produce an entry for each of the following competitions every two months. They are NOT limited to Imperial-only models. Each winner will be decided by votes on each category.

Single Miniature- Doesn't matter what the model is, from Guardsman Hank to Lord Solar Macharius. The quality of the paintjob and conversion is the issue here, but a conversion is not necessary. Painting usually is :8

Squad- This is any small (5-12) group of infantry or small (3-5) group of vehicles or bikes (or functional equivalent). Again, this is based off of the quality of the painting and conversions.

Vehicle- This is any single standard vehicle or monstrous creature. I don't care if it's a Vyper or a Greater Daemon, if it looks good, it's going here. For the record, any successful implementation of the DJ Land Raider automatically has my vote!

Platoon- Any group of infantry, bikes, or small vehicles that has more models than specified in the 'squad' category. This category also includes a squad with a transport.

Terrain- Pretty self explanatory. This is any *themed* terrain (i.e. 40k related) from an apocalypse objective to a gaming table. Quality, as ever, is important, but also included is the all-powerful ingenuity aspect. Bits, household objects, etc are all welcome, on the agreement that you tell us how you made that awesome bunker/spore/monkey tower.

Other- Anything not specifically mentioned in the other categories. This includes duels, superheavy vehicles, gargantuan creatures, etc.

Rules:
Only 40k related material
All models must be built and painted during the competition period (we're not going to ask for proof, but it's the honor system guys)
Models from any and all armies are accepted
Please take as many pictures as necessary to get the feel of the model(s)

And finally-
Enjoy yourself

Competition will begin April 21st

please go to the Task Force Serpent website (aokforums.com/sapper) if you have any questions.

As for myself, I'll be entering in my Raven Guard at the squad and single levels.

Not exactly the cross forum competition i'm thinking off, but it's a good idea for members of SoC(sons of corax) to participate in as many of these forum competitions as possible.

Enter your Raven Guard and make our presence known, because the Raven Guard aren't just some random chapter...no no, we are the Sons of Corax. First founding legion, masters of precision strikes, covert operations and we never give up.

I'm a fairly decent painter, but I'm a much better writer. If you need me for anything, I'd be a writer.
