If you've noticed that i've been quiet lately, its because i decided to really find a direction for my marines before i blindly bumbled forward into a list i didnt plan on keeping or a scheme i wasnt 100% fond of.

In my time off to think and find a new inspiration, i found my new project chapter, Clan Ghost Bear (Anyone familiar with Mechwarrior will know the name :P)

Dont worry though! i'm still using shrike :P

Heres the approx. direction that i want to take this list - not really set to a points bracket yet

HQ

Captain Arcturai Spector -shrike- 195
Captain Ajax Prime - jump pack, relic blade, storm shield - 175

Troops

Tactical Squad Kodiak- Plasma Cannon, plasma gun, powefist - 210
Tactical Squad Kerensky- Missile Launcher, Plasma gun - 180
Tactical Squad Polaris - flamer, missile launcher, power weapon, rhino - 220

Elite
Ironclad Argo - pod, MG, HF - 175
Brother Dreadnought Hull- TLLC - 135

Fast attack
Assault Squad - 10 strong, powerfist - 215
Assault Squad - 10 strong, powerfist - 215

They look great! I really like the new direction!

The list is solid too. Bring on the rest!

I like a lot.

Are you going to add another colour or use the blue (from their lenses) as an accent colour?

I would suggest you drill the bolters? just my preference.

Other than that, lovely work and well done in avoiding them looking like White Scars.

hey thanks guys :P

happy for the approval! I think the only changes i might see myself making will be tactical squad loadouts - though there will be power weapon/fists and an abundance of AP2/3.

@ Narishma - As far as accent colors go, im a bit hesitant. I like the pale blue/white to keep a snowy feel, and i only went with a stronger blue on the lenses to make them pop a little more. I'm not sure id like any large accents like the Aquillas or paneling, i like the simplicity of the white alot at the moment. What did you have in mind though? i will be drilling the bolters all at once when the army is finished; all my drills are at home, and im at college atm :?

Got to agree, the scheme is great! and its definitely a competitive list.

Kellhounds from MW:4Mercenaries are still the best clan though :D

Great work Man keep it up!

haha i do like the kellhounds - i think theyre the best Mercenary unit: can't beat early access to buying clan gear - best clan goes to Ghost Bear in my book!

Clan Wolf comes in a close second though imo, just out of personal preference
Followed by the Smoke Jags (they were by far the largest)

I have been trying to think of some way in which you could use an another colour without ruining the look.
My journeys to and from work for the last couple of days have been spent in determined concentration staring out the window imagining white marines and what I would do.
I think that you are right and that they do not require an accent colour on pad edges, aquilas or major panels, but I do think that some more colour would help and if it was consistent at at least the squad level then I think that they would look better
My suggestion therefore is to use your nice khaki green, but as the squad icon colour and maybe / or as some sort of army / crusade badge on one of the lower leg greaves / kneepads.
Obviously if you are happy with them, then leave them be as they do look very nice.
Do you have any idea what you are going to do for the bases?

I have to disagree with you on that one Captain Narishma.

The colour pallete used is cool colours. Khaki would upset the balance in that it is a warm colour, but from the cool side of the colour circle.

A deep red or orange would be your best colour if you wanted contrast.

For the bases you need to again use warm, deep tones to avoid washing out the model. Snow bases would not look good in this case.

Just my pennies worth!!

What about a "warm" gray - a little brown mixed in- rocky base

and a small patch of static grass, with a tiny bit of snow (1 or 2 shoulder pad sized splotches) to keep a theme?

Expedition Leader Osiris Solarium, my counts as Vulkan, is about 90% finished. Basing obviously needs to be done, and theres some cleanup work that i still have to do. I went for a interstellar map theme, and you can see maps of space Within the "bear paw print" on his face mask, left shoulder, his entire right shoulder, and on his entire shield. The apothecary pack fit the feel of an explorer, complete with search light, an auto-turret stub-flamer, and promethium tanks. I went with a stormshield for the 3+ invuln save rather than a big cape. (personally not a fan of capes on marines). I wanted to make a big, massive weapon fitting of a relic blade, while keeping the "bear claw" theme to it, hence the two, offset blades.

but first, heres some greenstuff work on a shield to keep with the bear theme.

Beastly! Now thats a relic blade! i also really like the pose and attention to detail on his armour and pads. I'm not sure about the shield on the back though. Love the flamer placment.

Thunder termies are just so cool, again nice posing.

Hey that dread looks familiar! ;)
