I already asked this in another section of the forums but perhaps none noticed it. So here it goes:

If Shrike dies then:
A. The army still keeps the Fleet USR.
B. The army loses Fleet and goes back to Combat Tactics.

I would choose A as it makes more sense.

Note: This question ofcourse goes for all Special CHaracters and their Chapter Tactics.

Option A.

That's the way it works for everyone.

Yeah, its A. Or there would be all sorts of problems like if Khan dies on turn 1 and you have flanking rhinos!

Or

"Vulkans dead!, crap, my flamer has stopped working so well"

The tactics represent their influnece on their company/chapter. As with Shrike his ways of war have been deeply rooted into his battle brothers, their trained minds dont suddenly blank when he kops it.

What they said. If anyone disagree with you at the LGS then please post what their arguements were.

Something quite funny i found in B&C regarding this similar case

Quote:
If they force this line then pull something equally dubious. An eye for an eye & all that.

As my Ork playing wife put it:

If I pulled that then you'd use Telion to snipe out my Warboss and claim that my Nobz were no longer troops; forcing me to fofeit the game as my list had more than three Elite choices

:lol::lol:

The requirement for gaining the chapter Tactics is to include the Special Character in your army - that is it. Whether he survives the game or not is not important. If you paid the points to include him in your army, you get the Chapter Tactics.

For giggles I emailed this question to GW and the response I got that any leader who changes combat tactics is for the game.

Fluff wise I look at the Captain as training his company how to fight to his style.

His style is something engrained in how they do combat, he doesn't give this magic change soon as he lands on the planet.

(By the same arguement you could say since Shrike is in reserve (to be deep striked) nobody has fleet)

I do like the idea of sniping a warboss especially because my wife plays orks!

The ability once given by the inclusion of Shrike as part of the army roster is permanent and is no way dependant upon his survival in any way.

In other words, you have paid the points for Fleet so use it because that army now has the rule as part of their profile.

Cheers.
