Right as much as it burns my head just thinking about it, this came up in a game i had with evolved

if you give a tactical squad (probably lascanon and meltagun) the tank hunter special rule (because of sicarius' battle forged hereos rule) if you combat squadded the unit would each combat squad get it or just one of them.

As Sicarius adds his "special" to a Tactical squad, I would think its a Tactical squad that benefits.
A combat squadded tactical squad isnt the same as a Tactical squad.
IMO the USR is granted to the whole squad.
Would fit with the common approach on squads and their training as a whole unit, rather than beeing
2 units merged to form a bigger unit which isnt the case for SM.

Yeah, both combat squads get it. You choose his special like a librarian does his powers.

Before the match. So, you do the assigning of special traits to an entire squad far earlier than you ever deploy them.

Hey, this is a good hack :)

A lascannon squad with meltagun, combi-melta, splitted, one staying at range, the other forwarding in a Razorback..

Sound good.

well just the idea of a meltagun with str 8 ap 1 with +1 on the vehicle damage chart, and 2d6 armour penetration within 6 inches appeals to me :D.

still all this doesn't stop sicarius having a str 10 ap 2 pie plate thrown on him and being instantly killed, (even with the invulnerable and his command squads feel no pain :D :D)

Well it's down to 'when does the rule get applied'

If the rule is applied to the unit before deployment (which it is in my opinion), then both combat squads would get the special rule.
If someone can find a rule that says that special rules are applied after deployment, then only one combat squad would get it.

hey,

this should work always with a Tactical in a Drop pod,
as you can combat squad after the beginning of the game ;)

Too bad you can't use your heavy at the turn you drop...

If you're podding in a tac squad, you dont need the long-range power of a Lascannon, take a MM instead ;)

Too true, CR chances are that squads not gonna see much of the next turn if at all so the heavy weapon is almost superfluous.
